NFL Week 17 ATS Betting Picks

Written by on December 26, 2018

The final week of the season is very often one of the trickiest for all NFL Betting enthusiasts, simply because you never really know which teams are going to rest their players ahead of the playoffs. It’s something that you really need to be paying attention to before making any wagers this weekend, but we are going to jump in early and see if we can use our crystal ball to pick out some winners. To get things rolling, we are going to deliver some ATS selections, but be sure to keep an eye out for our SU and O/U picks, all of which will be coming today.

NFL Week 17 ATS Picks

New York Jets (+13 ½) at New England Patriots

The New England Patriots got back to winning ways last weekend after losing two in a row, but it was another display that was far from convincing, with the Patriots beating the Bills 24-12, although failing to cover the spread. That now represents 3 straight weeks where New England have been unable to cover, which makes this 13 ½ point spread look just a little dodgy.

The Jets were a little unlucky not to get something from their games against the Packers in Week 16, and while they failed to cover in that one, they have managed to go 3-1 ATS in their last 4 games. I like the Patriots to win here, but I also like the Jets to cover.

Latest NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • NY is 2-6-1 ATS in its last 9 games
  • NY is 5-10-1 ATS in its last 16 games on the road
  • New England is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • New England is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing at home against NY Jets

Chicago Bears (+5) at Minnesota Vikings

This is one of those games where one team has a whole lot more to play for than the other. The Chicago Bears have already won the NFC North and are guaranteed a home game in the playoffs, so they may use this opportunity to rest some guys. That said, they might also take some joy in beating their division rivals and potentially keeping them out of the playoffs.

This could, in fact, be a preview of the Wild Card Game next weekend, so both teams will be looking to make a statement. I think Minnesota wins and gets in, but I think it will be close, which is why I have the Bears to cover.

Latest NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • Chicago is 8-1 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Chicago is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Minnesota
  • Minnesota is 17-7-1 ATS in its last 25 games at home

Philadelphia Eagles (-7) at Washington Redskins

We are in a must-win territory for the Super Bowl Champions, but that is exactly where the Eagles have been over the past couple of weeks. Nick Foles has once again come in as the back-up and helped this team to start winning games again.

The Eagles are favorites for NFL Week 17.

They have now won back to back games, scoring 30 points or more in each of those wins, which should serve them well against a struggling Redskins offense that is having a tough time putting any meaningful points on the board. I think the Eagles cover and win this one going away, but will it be enough to get them into the postseason? Only time will tell.

Latest NFL Week 17 Betting Trends

  • Philadelphia is 2-4-1 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Philadelphia is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Washington
  • Washington is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games at home

LA Chargers (-6 ½) at Denver Broncos

The Chargers threw away a golden opportunity to jump into one of the top 2 spots in the AFC with a loss to the Baltimore Ravens at home last Saturday.

That was by no means an embarrassing loss, though, and things should get a little easier for the Chargers this weekend when they go on the road to face the Denver Broncos, who are currently on a 3-game losing skid. Denver has been averaging just 15 PPG over the past 3 weeks and should not be able to hang with a potent Chargers offense, so let’s take LA to win and cover.

  • Denver is 2-5-1 ATS in its last 8 games at home
