NFL Week 9 ATS Betting Picks

Written by on October 29, 2018

Week 8 of the NFL season will come to a close on Monday night and will probably end with the New England Patriots put a beating on the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots are starting to emerge as one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season, but they have some very good company, with the Rams, Saints, and Chiefs all looking as though they might be able to make a deep run. It’s time now to start thinking about our picks for Week 9 of the NFL season, and we are going to get started with some ATS selections. We will also have O/U and SU picks coming your way, so be on the lookout for those.

NFL Week 9 ATS Betting Picks

Kansas City Chiefs (-8) at Cleveland Browns

This was supposed to be the season where the Cleveland Browns broke out and took a huge step forward, but it has ended up being more of the same for them. There are rumors of fractured relationships behind the scenes, and it’s fair to say that it’s all starting to spill onto the field.

The Browns were soundly beaten by the Steelers over the weekend and look to be in for another long day in Week 9 against a Kansas City Chiefs offense that just cannot stop scoring. I would get in on this 8-point spread right now, as I have a feeling that it may get a little bigger as the week progresses.

Latest NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

  • Kansas City is 7-1 ATS in its last 8 games
  • Kansas City is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games on the road
  • Cleveland is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games
  • Cleveland is 7-18 ATS in its last 25 games at home

Oakland Raiders (+3) at San Francisco 49ers

The Thursday night game this week is one that not very many of us are probably going to be staying up to watch. These are two teams who have combined for just 2 wins on the season and who have not delivered much in the way of offensive output.

The Raiders are in full rebuilding mode, while the 49ers are battling the injury bug, which makes this thing a bit of a wash. This one could well end up being a push, as it looks like a field goal sort of game. I am going to lean on the side of the Raiders on more of a hunch play than anything.

Latest NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

  • Oakland is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Oakland is 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games on the road
  • San Francisco is 2-6 ATS in its last 8 games
  • San Francisco is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Oakland

Pittsburgh Steelers (+3) at Baltimore Ravens

It would appear that normal service is being resumed in the AFC North, with the Pittsburgh Steelers back on top while the Cleveland Browns reside in the basement. Wedged in between those two are the Baltimore Ravens, a team entering freefall after making a solid start to the season.

The Ravens are slight favorites for NFL Week 9.

The Ravens have now lost back to back games, as well as 3 of their last 4, and have seen their season record drop to .500. Both the Steelers and Bengals continue to pick up wins, so we are now looking at what is essentially a must-win game for Baltimore, a task that I don’t think they are up to.

Latest NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

  • Pittsburgh is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Pittsburgh is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games on the road
  • Baltimore is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Pittsburgh

Houston Texans (+2 ½) at Denver Broncos

If you regard confidence and momentum as being important in making picks each week, then you need to be looking at the Houston Texans. After getting off to a 0-3 start, Houston has surged to the top of the AFC South by winning 5-straight games. They are not blowing anyone out, but they are finding ways to win every single week.

They will be facing a Broncos team that is just 1-5 SU in their last 6 games, with their sole win in that stretch coming against a very weak Arizona Cardinals team. I’m a little surprised to see Houston in as an underdog here, and I think this is a very solid bet.

Latest NFL Week 9 Betting Trends

  • Houston is 3-10 ATS in its last 13 games
  • Houston is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games on the road
  • Denver is 5-14-1 ATS in its last 20 games
  • Denver is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Houston
