2019 NFL Division Odds, Predictions & Picks

AFC East

  • New England Patriots -500
  • New York Jets +650
  • Buffalo Bills +1100
  • Miami Dolphins +1400

The Patriots should be the -500 favorites to put a beating on the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins. New England has won the AFC East Division 16 times since 2000. They’ve won it 10 seasons in a row. New England looks like a lock.

If you’re dead set on backing a dog, the Bills are a better play than the Jets. Buffalo’s defense should be one of the best in the league this season. Not only that, but Buffalo improved on offense after signing wide receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley and tight-end Tyler Kroft.

AFC North

  • Cleveland Browns +125
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +190
  • Baltimore Ravens +260
  • Cincinnati Bengals +1800

So much belief surrounds the Browns that they are now favorites over the Steelers and Ravens to win the AFC North. Cleveland should be much better this season than they were last season, but so should the Baltimore Ravens. Right now, the Ravens offer the best odds and have the best shot of winning the division.

What’s the problem with Cleveland? Chemistry must develop between quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. If that doesn’t happen, the Browns could go 8-8 or even 7-9.

AFC South

  • Indianapolis Colts +120
  • Houston Texans +220
  • Jacksonville Jaguars +375
  • Tennessee Titans +650

Here’s another division where the favorite might not take it. Indianapolis is a Super Bowl contender. That doesn’t mean they lose the division and enter the playoffs as a wildcard.

Both Houston and Jacksonville are talented enough to win the AFC South. Of those two teams, Jacksonville is the team to back. The Jaguars had an excellent draft. They also signed the 2017 Super Bowl MVP, Nick Foles, away from the Philadelphia Eagles. Jacksonville could take the division at really good +375 odds.

AFC West

  • Kansas City Chiefs -160
  • Los Angeles Chargers +190
  • Denver Broncos +1200
  • Oakland Raiders +1200

Kansas City feels like an underlay at -160. The Chiefs are a good team. They might not be a great team this season. The offense could take a major hit if Tyreek Hill is suspended. Even if Hill isn’t suspended, defensive coordinators will be more dialed in to Patrick Mahomes’ game.

What’s wrong with the L.A. Chargers? The Bolts should field one of the top overall teams in the NFL. The defense especially could be dynamite.

NFC East

  • Philadelphia Eagles +100
  • Dallas Cowboys +130
  • Washington Redskins +900
  • New York Giants +1100

Most feel this is a two team race. There are reasons to be bullish on both the Cowboys and Eagles. However, NFL fans can’t sleep on the Washington Redskins. If the rookie QB/WR combo of Dwayne Haskins and Terry McLaurin comes out of the gate firing, Washington could be tough.

Going back to the Cowboys and Eagles, Philadelphia looks like the much better choice. The Eagles acquired former Chicago running back Jordan Howard. Howard should have a stellar season if the Eagles’ offensive line stays healthy.

NFC North

  • Chicago Bears +170
  • Green Bay Packers +190
  • Minnesota Vikings +210
  • Detroit Lions +1200

The Green Bay Packers have received an awful lot of attention, but they don’t appear to be much better this season than they were last season. Matt LeFleur might be a great NFL head coach. We don’t know yet. Chicago is the team to beat. They aren’t much better than Minnesota, though. The Vikings could bounce back and win at decent odds.

Detroit might be worth a look. Matt Patricia drafted a talented tight-end in T.J. Hockenson to help out Matthew Stafford. Patricia also added free agent Trey Flowers to help out the defense. The Lions are coming along. They’re a legit dark horse in the division.

NFC South

  • New Orleans Saints -180
  • Atlanta Falcons +375
  • Carolina Panthers +550
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers +850

Atlanta, Carolina, and Tampa Bay should all be improved, those three teams shouldn’t have improved enough to beat the New Orleans Saints. The Saints have depth at pretty much every position this season. That includes tight-end where they signed Jared Cook and drafted Alize Mack. The Saints appear to be a lock to win the NFC South.

NFC West

  • A. Rams -200
  • Seattle Seahawks +300
  • San Francisco 49ers +550
  • Arizona Cardinals +2500

The L.A. Rams are the class of the NFC West. They might not be worth backing to win the division at -200, though. Bill Belichick handed the rest of the NFL the blueprint to beat the Rams in the 2019 Super Bowl.

If we look past the Rams, both the Seahawks and 49ers should be much improved this season. Seattle extended Russell Wilson, which is a positive thing. If 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo returns 100% from the injury that kept him out last season, San Francisco could take the NFC West.
