2019 NFL Week 9 Must-Bet Games

Written by on July 25, 2019

With the start of NFL preseason action just a few short weeks away, now is a great time to get an early jump on your 2019 betting selections, thanks to the complete offering of NFL regular season odds that have been recently released. Whether you like favorites, underdogs, home teams or road warriors, you’re going to get your fill of expert betting predictions from yours truly right now. With that said, let’s get down to business with my trio of Week 9 regular season picks.

2019 NFL Week 9 Must-Bet Games

Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs

  • When: Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM ET
  • Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
  • TV: FOX
  • NFL Week 9 Odds: PK

The Vikings might have underachieved in a big way in going 8-7-1 last season, but Minnesota has some legitimate hopes of getting back into the playoff mix in 2019, starting with the fact that they finished fourth in total defense and ninth in points allowed (21.3 ppg) last season. Kansas City has a legitimate superstar in quarterback Patrick Mahomes and an offense that can put points on the board in a hurry. The Chiefs however, were pitiful defensively in 2018 in finishing 31st overall and 24th in points allowed (26.3 ppg).

Still, Kansas City is playing at home and they went a near-perfect 7-1 SU at home last season. The Vikings struggled in going 3-4-1 on the road last season and I don’t believe they have the offensive firepower necessary to keep pace with Kansas City, even if they put up a fine defensive effort. The Chiefs win outright to cover the chalk as a pick ‘em.

Pick: Kansas City PK

NY Jets at Miami Dolphins

  • When: Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM ET
  • Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
  • TV: CBS
  • NFL Week 9 Odds: PK

The Jets and Dolphins both have new head coaches in 2019, but I’m thinking Miami has a brighter future under Brian Flores than New York does under former Fins head coach Adam Gase. I love New York’s quarterback situation with Sam Darnold and Miami’s situation features a battle between veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and second-year signal-caller Josh Rosen.

Still though, Miami went 7-9 last season and they’re a lot closer to getting back to being a winning team than New York, who is looking to rise from the ashes of a dismal 4-12 campaign. I’m not real fond of Adam Gase and I’m definitely not sure he’s got the stuff to make it as a head coach after watching his mostly inept moves with Miami the last three seasons. The Fins got the regular season sweep over the Jets last season and they’ll get the win at home in this one to over the chalk as a pick ‘em.

Pick: Miami PK

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals

  • When: Thursday, November 3, 2019 at 8:20 PM ET
  • Where: State Farm Stadium, Glendale
  • TV: FOX/NFL
  • NFL Week 9 Odds: San Francisco -3

The Niners are hoping that Jimmy G is the answer they’ve been hoping for at quarterback, but no one really knows now because he’s only had 10 career starts. Arizona is banking on the combination of Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray to get them back to prominence, but both are untested, even if Murray is clearly a gifted signal-caller and Kingsbury is known for his high-scoring offensive system. San Francisco would appear to have the edge in this one, but I think Arizona is going to surprise while scoring their fair share of points at the very least. The Cardinals are playing at home and the Niners went a miserable 0-8 on the road last season. Arizona has covered the chalk in four straight meetings against San Francisco and I like the Cardinals to cover again as a home underdog.

Pick: Arizona +3
