With 17 weeks in the season, there isn’t really an official midway point, but Week 9 is when every team will have played half of their schedule. No team in the league is completely safe, and in the playoffs, just yet, while many teams sitting below the playoff line in both conferences still have plenty of time to make a move in the second half. All of that said, we have still seen more than enough of every team to have an idea of how things might play out, barring injuries or other issues. We can use what we have seen, as well as the trends that have developed through the first half of the season, to make better selections each week. For the purposes of this piece, we will be looking at O/U picks in Week 9, but we will also have SU and ATS picks coming your way. That being said, let’s have a look at our selections so you can make your bets and cash in against their NFL odds.
Week 9 O/U Picks for the 2020 Season | NFL Betting
Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons (OVER 50)
Ever since Peyton Manning retired, the Broncos have been trying to find an adequate QB replacement. They may have done so in the last draft, as Drew Lock is quickly showing that he has what it takes to play at a high level in the NFL. He was fantastic in guiding the Broncos to victory last weekend in a come from behind win over the LA Chargers. In Atlanta, a new coach will be coming in, which could mean the end of the road for Matt Ryan, although he is still performing at a high level. The OVER is very much trending for the Broncos at the moment, with 4 of their last 6 going that route. While it has been the under that has been prevalent for the Falcons, 7 of the last 10 meetings between these teams have gone OVER.
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (OVER 50 ½)
This has been an absolutely brutal season for both of these teams. While the Jaguars struggles were expected, I don’t think many people saw the Texans being as poor as they have been through the first half of the season. As bad as the Texans have been, they still have a very good QB and the ability to put points on the board, but the defense has let them down, especially in the last two games, where they have surrendered a combined 77 points. The Jaguars are going to have Jake Luton, a 6th round draft pick, in at QB this weekend, which makes me a little nervous, but with 4 of the last 5 Texans road games going OVER, I still think this one surpasses the point total.
Las Vegas Raiders Vs LA Chargers (OVER 53)
The Las Vegas Raiders have been fun to watch this season, as we have come to expect offensive battles when they play. That prompted me to take the OVER when they faced Cleveland, who have a similar offensive style, last weekend, but horrible weather in Cleveland turned that one into a game where points were hard to come by. I am going right back to the OVER this weekend, as weather will not be an issue. It also helps that rookie QB Justin Herbert is starting to look very comfortable as a starter for the LA Chargers. This matchup has traditionally gone the way of the under, but I think that trend gets bucked this coming weekend.
