As there seems to be every single year in the NFL, there are a number of surprises to be found as we head into Week 9 of the season. here are a few teams who are living up to their preseason hype, while a few others are as bad, or perhaps worse, than we expected. There are a also a few teams who are seriously underperforming, with a couple of head coaches already given their marching orders. As we head into the second half of the season, we need to be aware that things can change quickly. One or two teams are likely going to get hot and turn the playoff race into something special, while injuries might derail one of the top teams. To use an old cliché, we are taking one week at a time, so let’s focus on our SU picks for Week 9 so you can make your bets and cash in against their NFL odds.

Straight-Up Picks for Week 9 of the 2020 Season | NFL Betting

Minnesota Vikings over Detroit Lions

When you get divisional matchups, you very often see that the meetings between teams are quite close in terms of wins and losses. That is not the case here, though, as the Vikings have won 7 of their last 10 versus the Detroit Lions. This, though, has been a terrible year for Minnesota, although they are sure to still be on a high after downing the Green Bay Packers last weekend in a game that they started as a 6-point underdog. The Lions saw a good run of form, where they had won 3 of 4, come to an end over the weekend with a loss to the Indianapolis Colts. They have lost 5 in a row to Minnesota and are just 2-12 SU in their last 14 games versus conference foes. I think we are looking at a Vikings win here.

Tennessee Titans over Chicago Bears

We have a pair of teams here who will be looking to get back on track after slipping into a bit of a losing funk. The Tennessee Titans opened the season with 5 straight wins, but they are now coming into this one on the heels of back to back losses versus Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, the latter of which was more than a little surprising. The Chicago Bears, meanwhile, have slipped to 5-3 after losing 2 in a row, although their losses were not that shocking giving that they still looked like a fragile team even when sitting at 5-1. Given that the Titans are 8-3 SU in their last 11 games, they look to be the better equipped of the two teams to snap out of this and get back to winning. Playing at home certainly helps their cause, so I am taking the Titans to win.

Seattle Seahawks over Buffalo Bills

Given the results of the last couple of weeks, the playoff race in the NFC has tightened up quite a bit. It is the 6-1 Seattle Seahawks who are in possession of the #1 seed right now, but things could change again if they fail to get the win on the road in Buffalo this coming weekend. The Buffalo Bills are back to winning ways after a bit of a tumble and come into this one on the heels of back to back wins. While the Bills are back to winning and sitting with the 3rd best record in the AFC, they have not been totally convincing over the past couple of weeks. I am taking the Seahawks to win a close one.
