3 Reasons Why New England Patriots Will Win Super Bowl LI

Written by on February 3, 2017

Given that the Patriots will be seeking their 5th Super Bowl in the Brady/Belichick era, and that they are favorites for Super Bowl 51 this coming Sunday in Houston, it would be easy to assume that they will just go out and win this one with little effort. That’s not how things tend to play out in football, though, and you need to remember that Brady has also been on the losing end a couple of times in the championship game. The Patriots are going against an offensive juggernaut in the Atlanta Falcons, and they are not going to come out of Houston with the Lombardi Trophy in tow without a fight. I have picked out 3 reasons why I believe that Tom Brady and the Patriots may just get that one for the thumb this coming Sunday. Before you bet on the NFL playoffs, click here to cash in on the latest Super Bowl 51 promos.

Tom Brady Has Something to Prove

This may sound like a ridiculous statement when you consider what Brady has achieved during his career, but it’s not as crazy as it might sound. Brady started this season by watching from home, as he was forced to serve a 4-game suspension for his alleged role in the whole Deflategate scandal. The lead-up to the suspension was a long drawn out affair that turned a little nasty at times, and you had better believe that Brady wants to win this thing and rub it right in the face of Roger Goodell. Brady has looked like a man on a mission since returning, and while he does not have many household names among his receivers, he has still found a way to carve up opposing defenses all season long. He will likely lose the league MVP battle to Matt Ryan, but he is definitely in the picture.

The Offensive Line

Brady has been performing miracles his entire NFL career, but he has been especially effective this season because he has had time to stand back there and pick the opposition apart. The offensive line for the Patriots is outstanding, and in the AFC Conference Championship Game, there were times when Brady appeared to have all the time in the world against a Steelers defense that was throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him. If the Falcons can’t get any pressure on Brady, it could turn into a very long day for them.

A Huge Edge in Experience

There have been countless players over the years who have talked about how nerves got the better of them when they played in the Super Bowl, but those jitters are not really something that should apply to this Patriots team. This will be their 7th appearance in the big game and while they do have some guys making their first trip to a Super Bowl, their key players are now SB veterans. They will know exactly what to expect when they take the field at NRG Stadium in Houston, and that may be enough to give them a jump on the much less experienced Atlanta Falcons.
