7 Shocking NFL Betting Predictions for 2018 Season

Written by on July 20, 2018

Part of the fun of talking about football in the offseason is predicting what will happen when the new season begins. It’s, of course, impossible to get every NFL Betting prediction correct, and is, in fact, more likely that we will all end up looking a little foolish in the process. That doesn’t stop us from making those predictions, though, which is why we have 7 for you guys that may be considered a little shocking. These are not necessarily things that we believe will happen but would certainly be cool if even a couple of them did occur, upsetting the usual pro-football odds & gods.

7 Shocking NFL Betting Predictions for 2018 Season

Someone other than a QB wins the MVP

You have to go back quite some way to find the last time that someone other than a QB won the league MVP, with Adrian Peterson being the last to do so. If it is to be someone else this season, how about Leveon Bell. This is a guy almost certainly playing his last season with the Steelers, as he will be going in search of a massive payday. When a player is selling himself, that usually equates to big numbers.

The Indianapolis Colts will have the worst record in the league

It’s time for the Cleveland Browns to let someone else stand in the awful spotlight, and I believe it might be the Colts. We are assuming that Andrew Luck will start this season, but how good can he be after such a long layoff. You also have to consider that there is not a lot of talent around him.

The Minnesota Vikings will have the best record in the league

If that defense plays as well as it did last season and Kirk Cousins delivers the goods at QB, there may be no stopping this team. I like them to put together the best record in the league, but will that lead to a Super Bowl? I’ll answer that question a little later.

This will be the last year of the Brady/Belichick era

It was fun, for Patriots fans at least, while it lasted, but I think this will be the last season where we see these two together. Brady is now 41 and the fact that Josh McDaniels did a U-turn to stay in New England suggests that he is the new coach in waiting.

Dirk Koetter will be the first coach fired this season

After a promising year in 2016, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finished dead last in the NFC South. Dirk Koetter is on top of the NFL Betting predictions for First Coach to be fired in 2018. If this season gets off to a rocky start, Koetter will not be sticking around very long.

The 49ers are not going to the playoffs

No team is coming into this season with more buzz than the 49ers, thanks in large part to ending last year on a 5-game winning streak with Jimmy G pulling the strings. The 49ers will be better, but I think they still come up short.

The Minnesota Vikings win the Super Bowl

Technically speaking, this will occur in 2019, but I think you guys will cut me some slack. Defense wins championships, and the Vikings have one of the best. They also finally have a reliable QB under center.
