Why Bet On Chicago at +1.5?
One week after opening with a thud against Carolina in their preseason opener (23-13), the Bears fell on the road to the New York Giants 32-13 last weekend while allowing the G-Men to get one TD pass from three different quarterbacks in the loss.
Veteran backup Chase Daniel went 12 of 18 for 103 yards and Tyler Bray went 6 of 13 for 53 yards, but neither threw a touchdown pass in the defeat. The good news is that head coach Matt Nagy rested the vast majority of his starters on both sides of the ball for the second straight game.
“As a staff, we’re trying to evaluate where our backups are,” Nagy said. “We had to make sure we handled things the right way. My biggest thing is to do what’s best for the Chicago Bears. I feel good about our starters already. I’m not going to worry about that. This gives us a chance to check out our depth.”
Why Bet On Indianapolis at -1.5?
After opening the preseason with a humbling 24-16 road loss at Buffalo, the Colts fell to Cleveland 21-18 last weekend despite the fact that Jacoby Brissett went an impressive 8 of 10 for 100 yards and one touchdown and third-stringer Chad Kelly went 12 of 17 for 115 yards and another TD toss. Veteran starter Andrew Luck sat out again as he deals with a lower left leg injury. Young wide receiver Deon Cain continued to impress by hauling in seven balls for 80 yards.
“I think what he (Cain) has been doing in practice showed up a little bit tonight,” Reich said. “He’s making plays and picking up where he left off last year.”
Defensively, Khari Willis has a team-high four tackles while Caraun Reid and Kemoko Turay each added a sack in the loss.

Expert Analysis and Prediction for Bears vs Colts
With Chicago’s starters seeing their first action and the Colts likely to not suit up injury-prone Andrew Luck, I like Chicago to get the outright win to cover the chalk as a slight road dog. While Indianapolis has gone 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games on turf, the Bears have gone 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. I’m expecting Chicago’s stingy defense to show up in this one to dominate all three Indy signal-callers that see action in this one while the Bears finally put some much-needed points on the board.
Pick: Chicago 24 Indianapolis 17
