NFL Betting – Early Must Bet Games in Week 1

Written by on August 12, 2020

Already, odds are out for NFL Week 2. That’s how excited everyone has become about the upcoming NFL Regular Season. But before jumping to Week 2, we must contend with Week 1. Below are eight games football handicappers should wager as soon as possible, along with their NFL odds.

NFL Betting Preview for Games in Week 1

NFL 2020 Season Week 1

  • When: Thursday, Sep 10 – Monday, Sep 14

Thursday, Sep 10

  • Houston Texans / Kansas City Chiefs -10

The Chiefs opened as -6 ½ favorites. Already, the odds have flown to -10. Why? Without preseason games, teams like Kansas City, that are solid across the board and didn’t go through a ton of offseason changes, should flourish early in the season. Not only that but the Chiefs are the defending champs and Deshaun Watson can’t throw to DeAndre Hopkins. Soon, we could be staring at KC -12 or even -12 ½.

NFL Free Pick: Chiefs -10

Sunday, Sep 13

  • Las Vegas Raiders -1 ½ / Carolina Panthers

The Panthers look like a mess. Don’t get us wrong. New quarterback Teddy Bridgewater can ball. But, the Raiders had a bad season primarily because they were an orphan in Oakland. In Vegas, the Raiders’ talent should show. Don’t wait to back the Raiders. The odds should drift to  Sin City by -3 or more.

NFL Free Pick: Raiders -1 ½

  • Philadelphia Eagles -6 / Washington Football Team

Washington has way more issues than their nickname. The Washington Maroons, which sounds like a good name for now, doesn’t have a veteran quarterback and the defense feels like a mess. Philadelphia believes they can win the Super Bowl. This line drifts past 7.

NFL Free Pick: Eagles -6

  • Indianapolis Colts -6 ½ / Jacksonville Jaguars

Lay anything less than 7 ½ on the Colts. The defense projects as a Top 5 unit, Tom Coughlin destroyed the Jags’ franchise, and new Indianapolis quarterback Philip Rivers should light up Jacksonville’s secondary.

NFL Free Pick: Colts -6 ½

  • L.A. Chargers -3 / Cincinnati Bengals

Oddsmakers and Bengal backers are putting too much stock into Joe Burrow. The LSU quarterback is talented, but rookie quarterbacks have trouble playing in the NFL after preseason games and a full offseason with their pro squad. Burrow is being thrown to the fire because the Bolts have a good defense. Tyrod Taylor, LAC’s QB, can run and doesn’t throw interceptions. Chargers end up as -5 ½ favorites. So, lay it as soon as possible.

NFL Free Pick: Chargers -3

  • Dallas Cowboys -2 ½ / L.A. Rams

The Rams don’t have much. The defense is decent. But, the offensive line remains a mess. The Cowboys look solid across the board. No way new head coach Mike McCarthy doesn’t get the most possible from Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, and Zeke. This line should blow up to at least -3 ½ on the Boys.

NFL Free Pick: Cowboys -2 ½

Monday, Sep 14

  • Pittsburgh Steelers -3 ½ / New York Giants

Nate Solder, a key offensive line player for the New York Giants, has opted out. It means first pick Andrew Thomas must play right away. The Steelers’ defense should dominate the Giants’. Also, Big Ben Roethlisberger is back under center. It’s difficult to understand why Steel Town isn’t a -5 to -6 favorite today.

NFL Free Pick: Steelers -3 ½

  • Tennessee Titans +1 ½ / Denver Broncos

Denver should be improved but . . . really? 2019 AFC Championship participant Tennessee gets 1 ½ points? Broncos won’t be improved enough to keep a Super Bowl contender from blasting them out of their own stadium.

NFL Free Pick: Titans +1 1/2
