Here’s A Closer Look At The Betting Picks For Every 2017 NFL Week 1 Matchup

Week 1

Chiefs at Patriots (-7)

Analysis: Contrary to popular belief, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots do not win the Super Bowl every year. I like Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs for the outright upset.

Pick: Chiefs 27 Patriots 24

Jets at Bills (-6)

Analysis: Take the lesser of two evils in this AFC East divisional showdown. LeSean McCoy and the Bills hold it down at home, but the Jets somehow manage to cover the spread.

Pick: Buffalo 28 Jets 24

Falcons (-6) at Bears

Analysis: Why would anyone in their right mind bet on Chicago in this game? Matt Ryan and the Falcons soar to the win in this Week 1 opener against a Chicago Bears team that has a ton of issues they need to address.

Pick: Falcons 28 Bears 17

Jaguars at Texans (-4.5)

Analysis: Simply put, the revamped Houston Texans win this AFC South division matchup by a touchdown at the very minimum, even though I think Jacksonville got it right by bringing in Tom Coughlin to run their football operations.

Pick: Texans 27 Jaguars 17

Eagles at Redskins (-3)

Analysis: I like Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins to get the home win in this longtime NFC East rivalry, but I’m thinking this is a classic field goal matchup. Take Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles to cover the spread as field goal road dogs.

Pick: Redskins 27 Eagles 24

Cardinals at Lions (-3)

Analysis: I like the Detroit Lions to get their season started off on the right foot in this all-NFC battle against an Arizona Cardinals team looking to rebound. Matthew Stafford leads Detroit to the Week 1 win over Carson Palmer and the Cards, although I don’t expect much defense to be played.

Pick: Lions 31 Cardinals 27

Raiders (-1) at Titans

Analysis: Make no mistake about it. This AFC battle of up-and-coming contenders could be the best game on the entire Week 1 docket. Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota light up the scoreboard. Whatever the Over is…take it.

Pick: Raiders 31- Titans 30

Buccaneers at Dolphins (-1.5)

Analysis: While I like Jameis Winston a whole lot more than Miami’s Ryan Tannehill, I think the Dolphins and their surprisingly solid defense from last season will keep Winston, Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson in check long enough to get the narrow win and ATS cover at home.

Pick: Dolphins 27- Buccaneers 24

Ravens at Bengals (-1)

Analysis: The Bengals win this annual AFC North matchup to get their 2017 campaign off to a positive start.

Pick: Bengals 20- Ravens 17

Steelers (-9) at Browns

Analysis: Why anyone would take the Cleveland Browns and the points in this Week 1 AFC North matchup is beyond me. Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers cruise to victory in Week 1.

Pick: Steelers 31- Browns 17

Colts (-3) at Rams

Analysis: Andrew Luck is infinitely better than Jared Goff on his very worst day. The Colts roll to a big win in their regular season opener over the young Rams.

Pick: Colts 35- Rams 21

Seahawks at Packers (-3)

Analysis: You can fully expect another knock-down, drag-out thriller in what has become a series of them between the Seahawks and Packers in recent years. I like Aaron Rodgers and the Pack to narrowly beat back Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.

Pick: Packers 27- Seahawks 24

Panthers (-4.5) at 49ers

Analysis: I have no idea why Cam Newton and the Panthers are such modest favorites in this Week 1 opener, but I say Carolina is easy pickings in this all-NFC matchup.

Pick: Panthers 39- 49’s 14

Giants at Cowboys (-5)

Analysis: The Cowboys might have gone 13-3 last year, but two of those loses came against a New York team that just seems to have their number. Dallas gets a bit of revenge, but Eli Manning and the G-Men get the ATS cover.

Pick: Cowboys 24- Giants 21

Saints at Vikings (-3)

Analysis: I like the Minnesota Vikings and head coach Mike Zimmer. I really do…just not as much as future Hall of Fame signal-caller Drew Brees, which is why I’m taking the New Orleans Saints for the outright road win.

Pick: Saints 24- Vikings 21

Chargers at Broncos (-4)

Analysis: I believe Phillip Rivers and the relocated Los Angeles Chargers will be better than they were a year ago, but so will the Denver Broncos. I like Denver to get the home win, but Los Angles covers the spread in another installment of their long AFC West division rivalry.

Pick: Broncos 24- Chargers 21
