Broncos at Ravens NFL Week 3 Odds & Game Preview

Written by on September 20, 2018

Football is a sport that is open to all sorts of wild and crazy prop bets, not all of which have to do with what happens on the field. For example, it is possible to wager on which coach will be the first one to bite the bullet in any given season. It may not be the most tasteful wager in the world, but it certainly is interesting to see those coaching seats get a little hotter as the season progresses. Some coaches head into a new season with that seat already nice and toasty, and you would need to put Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh up near the top of that list. He was very nearly gone after last season after once again failing to make the playoffs, but he was given one more shot at redemption on 2018. The Ravens have opened the season in a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde fashion and will have another tough one this weekend when they welcome in the unbeaten Denver Broncos. The Ravens open this one as a 5.5-point favorite, with the point total set at 44.

Why bet on the Denver Broncos?

Heading into the season, the big concern for the Broncos was at the QB position. It has been their main area of concern since Peyton Manning retired, but they believed they had solved that issue with the signing of Case Keenum. Things looked a little wobbly in the preseason, but they have certainly improved through the opening 2 weeks of the season. The Broncos are a perfect 2-0 and are delivering a nice mix of pass and run on their offense, averaging a little over 23 PPG in their 2 wins. Both victories have been tight, though, with the Dolphins winning by 3 points in Week 1 and just a single point in Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders. The Broncos have not been great on the road, though, winning just 1 of their last 10 trips. They are also 1-5 SU and ATS in their last 6 visits to Baltimore.

Why bet on the Baltimore Ravens?

The pressure heading into this season was not just on the coach, but also on QB Joe Flacco. Drafting Lamar Jackson and bringing in Robert Griffin III in the offseason was a sure sign that Flacco was on borrowed time if he did not get the job done. The Ravens come into Week 3 with a 1-1 record, but you have to say that Flacco has done his part. Broncos at Ravens should be a close one. Baltimore is averaging 35 PPG and is throwing for over 300 YPG through the first two weeks, although they are also averaging less than 100 YPG on the ground in those two games. The Ravens tend to be very good in their own building, winning 5 of their last 6 there. They are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 meetings with the Denver Broncos.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Broncos at Ravens

While I like the Ravens to come out on top here, I think the 5-point spread is a little too large. I am taking the Denver Broncos to cover on the road. Score: Denver Broncos 20 – Baltimore Ravens 24
