Last Meeting

In Week 6 of the 2014 season, the Jets lost 31-17 at home to Denver. Now-retired Peyton Manning connected with Julius Thomas twice and Demaryius Thomas once for TD throws. Jets QB Geno Smith, now with the Giants, was 23 of 43 for 190 yards and touchdown passes to Jace Amaro and Eric Decker, with the one interception.

Why Bet on NY Jets’ NFL Lines?

When it comes to covering the spread, no team has been worse than the Broncos. Through 12 games, the Broncos are 2-9-1 ATS, which is worse than every team in the NFL, including the Browns (3-9). If you’ve been betting on the Broncos over the past eight weeks, then that sucks for you because they’re 0-8 ATS during their eight-game losing streak. Jets quarterback Josh McCown completed 26 of 36 passes (72.2 percent) for 331 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions for a 109.8 passer rating and rushed for two touchdowns in the team’s 38-31 win over Kansas City last week. McCown, who turned 38 years old in July, became the third player in NFL history with at least two rushing touchdowns in a single game at the age of 38 or older. McCown is thriving under first-year coordinator John Morton while completing 67.8% of his passes and he has already established personnel bests with 2,880 yards passing, 18 touchdowns through the air and an additional five on the ground. In Weeks 12-13 against Carolina and Kansas City, McCown combined to pass for 638 yards and total six touchdowns. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Running back Matt Forte, who is trying to manage a chronic knee injury didn’t practice on Wednesday and Thursday, then was to do limited work on Friday. The Jets hope the scaled-back program can get him to the finish line. They play this week in the Denver altitude, which makes it imperative to have Forte as part of their three-man rotation. The Broncos are 3-3 at home although they’ve lost three consecutive contests in Denver. Only the Browns have worse numbers in the turnover differential and giveaway departments as Denver is -16 overall and has turned it over 27 times.

Why Bet on Denver’s NFL Lines?

Betting on the Jets in a road game may not be smart as New York is just 1-3-1 ATS away from home this season. However, the Jets have been surprisingly good in December road games, going 5-1 in their past six games. The Denver Broncos have dropped eight straight and were pummeled in Miami last Sunday, 35-9. Miami scored two safeties in a game for the first time in franchise history and held Denver to 1 for 13 on third-down conversions. Trevor Siemian, the Broncos’ third starting quarterback in as many weeks, went 20 for 42 for 219 yards with three interceptions. Siemian, a third-year player from Northwestern, is slated to make his ninth start on Sunday. He is completing just 58.9% of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Broncos also are penalized far too much, and they don’t respond to adversity on all fronts given they are now 0-6 in games they’ve trailed after the first quarter, 0-8 in games they’ve trailed at halftime. Are the Broncos a safe pick in Week 14? Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) and guard Ron Leary (back) were held out of practice Wednesday. Leary, who did not play against the Dolphins, is a significant question mark; if he cannot play, second-year guard/center Connor McGovern will make his second career start. Sanders missed two games with the ankle injury earlier this season but had returned to play in the past five games. He has, however, tweaked the injury several times over those five games. Last thing the Broncos need is offensive injuries. Denver does not have a touchdown pass longer than 25 yards this season, and have just eight pass plays overall for more than 30 yards.
