After losing their respective regular season openers last weekend, the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets will both be looking to pick up a much-needed victory when they square off in their Week 2 matchup of AFC playoff hopefuls. With the Browns getting embarrassed in Week 1 and the Jets collapsing late in their opener, let’s find out which team is offering the best value against their NFL Week 2 odds in this one!

Key Head-to-Head Trends

  • Favorite is 9-0 ATS in their last 9 meetings.

Why Bet On Cleveland at -2.5?

The Browns look like a solid wager heading into Week 2 because of their humbling Week 1 loss and the fact that they simply have more talent on their roster than the Jets. Unfortunately for their win-starved fan base, the Browns never showed up in their convincing 43-13 home loss against Tennessee in their opener last weekend. Brash (loud-mouthed?) second-year quarterback Baker Mayfield passed for 285 yards, but tossed three costly interceptions against just one TD pass while getting sacked three times and hurried on numerous other occasions. Defensively, Cleveland also allowed Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota to pass for 248 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Why Bet On the NY Jets at +2.5?

The Jets look like a good bet in Week 2 because they’re playing at home and likely to be highly motivated after giving up a 16-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter of what would eventually become a disheartening 17-16 home loss against AFC East division rival Buffalo. Quarterback Sam Darnold was limited to a modest 175 passing yards and one touchdown while veteran running back Le’Veon Bell rushed for 60 yards on 17 carries in his debut with the Jets while adding six catches for 32 yards and one score.

Expert Analysis and Prediction for Browns vs Jets

While the Browns looked nothing like the playoff contender they are supposed to be in their regular season opener, I am going to back the Browns to get the huge, confidence-boosting win in Week 2 against a New York Jets team that just doesn’t have the offensive firepower necessary to keep up with the dangerous Browns in this contest.

The Jets are an uninspiring 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games against their AFC counterparts, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up loss and 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. Conversely, Cleveland has gone 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss of more than 14 points. Baker Mayfield leads Cleveland to the convincing road win at ATS cover in Week 2!
