Given the salary cap in the NFL, we have all become used to seeing the majority of teams in the league go on a rollercoaster ride of good seasons followed by lean rebuilding years. Some franchises are able to buck the trend and remain consistently good, while others go into a downward spiral that converts them into a constant NFL betting odds underdog.
The Oakland Raiders were stuck in that latter category for as long as anyone could remember, but the drafting of a franchise QB in Derek Carr seemed to be the perfect catalyst for change.
