It’s usually about this stage of the NFL season when the real Super Bowl contenders begin to separate from the rest of the pack. Generally speaking, you have 3 or 4 teams that start to seriously compete for the top 2 spots in each conference. That battle is raging particularly hard in the AFC, where the Chiefs and Steelers are currently leading the way, with a couple of teams hot on their heels. One of the teams that are right in the thick of the action is the LA Chargers, although they are not getting many of the headlines in the AFC.
The reason why they have been going under the radar may well be because of their performance in recent years. The Chargers have been consistently good, but they have made a habit of coming up just short in big games and playoff pushes. They can potentially creep into the top two in the conference with a win over the Arizona Cardinals this weekend, a game that they will start as a 13-point favorite, with the point total set at 44 ½.
The reality here, though, is that the Chargers are now just 1-3 ATS at home this season, as well as being 4-3 ATS in games that they have started as a favorite.
