This Sunday, the Mybookie Sportsbook oddsmakers are daring you to back the Vikings as another big favorite over another bad team, the Arizona Cardinals.

In Week 11 of the 2016 season, the Vikings beat the visiting Cardinals 30-24. Xavier Rhodes took back one of his two interceptions 100 yards for a touchdown and Cordarrelle Patterson returned the second-half kickoff 104 yards for a score. Rhodes is still around for Minnesota but Patterson isn’t.
The Vikings became the first team since the 1962 Dallas Cowboys to have a 100-yard interception return touchdown and a 100-plus yard kickoff return touchdown in the same game. Minnesota’s QB that day was Sam Bradford. He’s now a Cardinal. David Johnson rushed for 103 yards and a score and tacked on 57 yards and a touchdown receiving to lead Arizona. He’s still there.
Why Bet on Arizona? The Cards assured there would be no winless teams in the 2018 season by upsetting the 49ers 28-18 last week. Rookie Josh Rosen completed 10 of 25 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win. He has thrown for 386 yards with two touchdowns and an interception this season. Former Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford started the first three games of the season before being replaced by the 10th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
David Johnson ran for 55 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries Sunday against the 49ers. He leads Arizona with 242 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Rookie Christian Kirk corralled three-of-four targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in the win. Kirk broke loose for a 75-yard touchdown on the Cardinals’ first play from scrimmage. That was Arizona’s longest play from scrimmage this year. Larry Fitzgerald chipped in with two catches for 35 yards. For the first time in 15 NFL seasons, Fitzgerald will enter Week 6 without a touchdown. The Cardinals completed just 10 passes all afternoon.
Arizona’s defense gave up 447 yards of total offense against the 49ers but did record a defensive touchdown when linebacker Josh Bynes picked up a fumble and scampered 23 yards for a score. The Cardinals had three fumble recoveries on the day. The Vikings are 16-11 all-time against the Cardinals franchise, a team that the Vikings have played in Arizona and St. Louis. The Vikings have had the upper hand of late by winning the four of the past five matchups, with each victory coming at home in Minnesota.

Why Bet on Minnesota?
The Vikings won a rematch of last year’s NFC title game on Sunday 23-21 in Philadelphia. Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 30 of 37 passes (81.1 percent) for 301 yards with one touchdown for a 109.6 passer rating. Cousins, who completed 35 passes in Week 2, 40 passes in Week 3 and 36 passes in Week 4, is the first player in NFL history to complete at least 30 passes in four consecutive games.
Adam Thielen had 116 receiving yards and one touchdown. Thielen is the third player in NFL history with at least 100 receiving yards in each of his team’s first five games to start a season, joining Charley Hennigan of the Houston Oilers (seven games in 1961) and Bob Boyd of the Los Angeles Rams (five in 1954). Thielen now has the most receiving yards (589) in Vikings history through the opening five games, surpassing Hall of Famer Randy Moss’ 515 yards in 2003.
Stefon Diggs caught 10-of-11 targets for 91 yards in the Vikings’ Week 5 win, adding two carries for 25 additional yards. The 10-catch game was Diggs’ second straight. Thielen and Diggs join Steelers WRs Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster as the only WR duos in the league to each rank in the top 10 in receptions.
With Dalvin Cook injured, Latavius Murray rushed 11 times for 42 yards, adding two receptions for 14 additional yards. Murray is averaging only 3.53 yards per carry on the season. Left tackle Riley Reiff was forced from Sunday’s game against the Eagles with a foot injury and did not return. Rashod Hill slid over to left tackle in his absence, with Brian O’Neill manning right tackle. The Vikings can ill afford any more offensive line issues.
The Vikings defense, which ranks 21st in yards allowed (378.0 per game) in 2018, has held opponents to a third-down conversion rate of 29.6 percent, the third lowest in the NFL, and is one of four units in the NFL to have multiple defensive touchdowns (two), trailing only the Bengals (three).
