Thursday is the last prime-time NFL game in Oakland for the foreseeable future as the Raiders are of course headed to Las Vegas next season. They are short underdogs on the NFL odds for this one against the AFC West rival Chargers.

How to Bet Chargers at Raiders NFL Odds & TV Info

Last Chargers vs Raiders Meeting

The Chargers won both meetings last year, including 20-6 in Oakland. Philip Rivers had two touchdown passes and Melvin Gordon gained 165 yards. Rivers threw an 11-yard TD pass to Keenan Allen in the second quarter to give the Chargers the lead for good and a 66-yarder to Gordon on the opening drive of the second half.

Oakland started quickly by controlling the ball for 23 of 29 plays in the first quarter and outgaining the Chargers by 129 yards. But Los Angeles allowed little after Melvin Ingram forced a fumble on a sack of Derek Carr early in the second quarter with the Raiders looking to add to a 3-0 lead.

Why Bet on LA Chargers?

The Chargers won their second straight game Sunday, upsetting the Packers 26-11. Philip Rivers completed 21-of-28 passes for 294 scoreless, turnover-free yards. Rivers averaged well over 10.0 yards per attempt in his crispest performance since Week 4 against the Dolphins. Rivers was sacked twice, finishing with a 108.3 passer rating. It’s only the third game this season Rivers finished a game without a turnover. The Chargers are 2-1 in those games.

Melvin Gordon rushed 20 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns, adding three receptions for 29 additional yards. Gordon cashed in a pair of goal-line carries as Austin Ekeler was stymied on his. Gordon’s second score came only after the Chargers took a field goal off the board to go for a 4th-and-inches from inside the one following a Packers penalty. Ekeler rushed 12 times for 70 yards and had four catches for 23 yards. The Chargers finally got the running game going, finishing with a season-high 159 rushing yards. Sunday was the first time the Chargers totaled over 40 rushing yards in five games.

Mike Williams caught 3-of-4 targets for 111 yards. The 100-yard game was the first of his career. Williams had never before even reached 90, settling for a trio of 80-yard performances. He was buoyed by 56- and 46-yard receptions. Tight end Hunter Henry caught 7-of-10 targets for 84 yards. He is now averaging 82 yards since his Week 6 return from injury. In his season debut after missing the first eight games with a right groin injury, kicker Michael Badgley finished 4-of-5 on field goals, including a long of 43 yards.

What about the Defense?

The Chargers consistently generated pressure with just four rushers, finishing with three sacks and holding the Packers to just 84 total yards after three quarters. Linebacker Denzel Perryman was forced from Sunday’s game against the Packers with a right knee injury. Perryman was announced as “questionable” but never returned. The 26-year-old is one of the Bolts’ most important run defenders.

Why Bet on Oakland?

The Raiders played at home on Sunday for the first time since Week 2 and beat the Detroit Lions 31-24. Derek Carr completed 20-of-31 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Carr spread the ball out, adding Hunter Renfrow and backup running backs to the passing-game mix, and he avoided turnovers to get the Raiders to 4-4 on the season.

Oakland rooking running back Josh Jacobs totaled 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders’ 31-24 win over Detroit. Jacobs is the first rookie since Cincinnati’s Ickey Woods (1988) to have at least two rushing touchdowns in three of his first eight career games. Jacobs already has set a franchise record for most rushing yards by a rookie in a single season. Marcus Allen rushed for 697 yards in the nine-game, strike-shortened 1982 season. Jacobs has rushed for 740 yards thus far in eight games.

Chargers vs Raiders is going to be a close one.

Rookie tight end Foster Moreau and rookie wide receiver Renfrow each recorded a touchdown reception on Sunday. Along with Jacobs’ two touchdowns, the Raiders are the first team since the Seattle Seahawks (November 22, 2015) to have rookies score all four touchdowns in a victory.

With three scoring drives of 70-plus yards in today’s contest, the Raiders offense has recorded multiple 70-plus yard scoring drives in 7-of-8 games this season. The Raiders have scored 24-plus points in five straight games for the third time since the start of the 2003 campaign.

What about the Defense?

Coach Jon Gruden said Monday that “Arden Key, we fear, broke his foot.” The Raiders’ second-year defensive end racked up two sacks and four QB hits in seven games this season. Key played between 18-53% snaps in every game he suited up for. The team also activated cornerback Isaiah Johnson from the injured reserve list. Johnson is tentatively expected to suit up Thursday night. The Raiders’ 2019 fourth-round pick was sidelined during the first nine weeks of the season due to a concussion. The Raiders released LB Brandon Marshall in a corresponding roster move.
