Tennessee dominates the Bills on Tuesday, gets past the Texans in overtime on Sunday
Although two games kick off on Monday, Oct. 19, no amount of drama will surpass what the Tennessee Titans showed on Sunday. The Titans, due to being the team that got hit hardest by the coronavirus, had just four days between their Tuesday matchup with the Buffalo Bills and their Sunday game against the Houston Texans.
On Tuesday, the Titans rolled. They dominated Josh Allen and the Bills 42-16. Sunday’s contest was much closer than many hoped, though. Tennessee struggled against Houston.
Although the Titans built a 21-10 halftime lead, their defense tired in the second half. So much so that the Texans outscored Tennessee 13-0 in the third quarter. Ryan Tannehill rallied the Titans to a touchdown in the final seconds to force overtime.
Then, in overtime, Derrick Henry scored the touchdown that kept Tennessee undefeated. Now 5-0 and, hopefully, with the coronavirus scare behind them, the Titans are easily one of the top 3 teams in the AFC.
Pittsburgh blasts the rival Cleveland Browns, SF gets back on track
Heading into their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns had won four in a row. But a look at the wins showed a serious flaw in Cleveland’s offense. Although the Browns had beaten the Bengals, the Washington Football Team, the Cowboys and Colts, they had leaned on the top rushing attack in the NFL.
Baker Mayfield averaged less than 200 yards passing. The Steelers field the second best rush defense, one that allows 66.2 yards per, in the league. Pittsburgh dominated the Browns 38-7 because Mayfield can’t beat a team with his arm.
In Week 5, like Mayfield, San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t seem like he could beat a team with his arm either. Jimmy G. had an awful game versus the Miami Dolphins. He bounced back big time in a more important contest against the L.A. Rams, though.
Garoppolo threw for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. The win brought the 49ers back to 3-3. They’re just a game behind the Rams at 4-2 in the NFC West. Seattle is at 5-0, but the Seahawks have yet to play a single division rival, which means we can’t yet crown the Seahawks the division winners.
Packers look to bounce back in NFL Week 7
The most important matchup in Week 7 shows the Pittsburgh Steelers traveling to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans. Both teams are undefeated and in the driver’s seat for homefield advantage in the playoffs. Whichever team gets the win on Sunday figures to become a co-Super Bowl favorite with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Have a great week!
