Eagles vs Bears 2018 NFC Wild Card Lines & Preview

Written by on December 31, 2018

The NFL regular season is a slugfest where only the best and strongest remain standing at the end. It’s a relief to reach the end of that 17-week grind, but for the 12 teams that make it into the playoffs, the real work is just about to begin. There is perhaps nothing worse than making a late run that takes you into the postseason, only to have it all come undone during Wild Card Weekend. While the top two teams in each conference get a well-earned break this weekends, the other 8 teams will be battling it out for the opportunity to move on to the divisional round.

The final game of the weekend will see the defending Super Bowl Champions hit the road, as the Philadelphia Eagles will be going against the Chicago Bears and their killer defense. It’s a match-up that looked wholly unlikely just a few short weeks ago, as that is when Philly looked to be dead in the water. They finished strong, though, and will have a shot at defending their crown, going on the road as a 6 point underdog. The point total for this one has been set at 41.

Why bet on the Philadelphia Eagles?

For the last 6 weeks of the season, the Eagles were basically in a playoff type scenario, as they were well aware that a couple of losses would probably mean the end of the road. They went 5-1 SU in those 6 games, borrowing a little bit of the magic from last year, with Nick Foles coming in late in the season to take over from the injured Carson Wentz.

The good news for the Eagles is that Foles will be good to go for this one after being taken out of the final game of the season with a rib injury. The Eagles closed out their season by covering the spread in each of their last 3 games, but they did not do so well when in as the underdog this season going 1-2 ATS in those games, all of which were on the road.

Why bet on the Chicago Bears?

The Chicago Bears are definitely for real, going 12-4 on the season and closing things out by winning 9 of their last 10 games. They could easily have rested some guys and taken a bit of a day off in Week 17 on the road to the Vikings, but they went all out, playing their typical smothering brand of defensive football to grab the 24-10 win.

Eagles vs Bears is going to be a close one.

Ironically enough, that victory knocked out the Vikings and opened the door for the Eagles to slide into the #6 spot in the NFC. The Bears have been an outstanding ATS bet this year, covering in 9 of their last 10 games, while also going a perfect 6-0 ATS in home games they started as the favorite.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for the Eagles vs Bears

It has been a great run for Philly and making it to the playoffs has been a wonderful achievement given where they were a few weeks ago. I think it all comes to an end on Sunday, though, as I like the Bears to dominate and move on.

Score: Philadelphia Eagles 13 – Chicago Bears 24
