Falcons Host Vikings in Week 13 as Slight NFL Odds Favorite
Why should the Chiefs be your NFL Pick for Week 13?
Why bet on Kansas City in this contest? Because the Chiefs are really the better team in all three phases and have a ton of motivation as they seek to hold on to the top spot in the AFC West and their playoff hopes along with it. The Chiefs were on the wrong end of a surprising 16-10 loss to Buffalo last weekend as quarterback Alex Smith was limited to 199 passing yards with one touchdown and one costly interception. Talented rookie running back Kareem Hunt was held to just 17 rushing yards on 11 carries while Tyreek Hill managed just 41 receiving yards despite hauling in seven passes. Making matters more perplexing for the Chiefs is the fact that three of Kansas City’s six losses have come against teams that currently have a losing record including their completely baffling 12-9 overtime loss to the Giants two weeks ago at the same stadium in which they’ll play the Jets on Sunday. After throwing 11 touchdown passes and no interceptions in the first five games, Smith has been limited to just eight TD passes and four interceptions in the last six while Kareem Hunt has been held to 73 yards or less with no touchdowns over the last six games after topping the 100-yard plateau four times and scoring four touchdowns in the first five games of the season. While some fans are calling for rookie Patrick Mahomes to take over for Smith, head coach Andy Reid isn’t abandoning his veteran signal-caller. “The thing I can do is stand before you and tell you that this isn’t an Alex Smith thing,” Reid said. “It’s all of us. I think — I know — our players understand that, and coaches. We’re all going to do better and raise our game up.”Why should the Jets be your NFL Pick for Week 13?
Why bet on the Jets in this contest? Well, because they’re playing at home and have been really competitive in just about every game this season. The Jets were on the wrong end of a 35-27 home loss to Carolina last weekend, but again, they competed very well, but just couldn’t finish in the fourth quarter. Veteran quarterback Josh McCown had a fine game by throwing for 307 yards and three touchdowns while wide receiver Robby Anderson caught six passes for 146 yards and two scores. Anderson has scored in five straight games (the longest active streak in the NFL) and has become one of the best deep ball threats in the league. His shortest TD reception of the seven he’s hauled in this season went for 18 yards while four were more than 30 yards and two were over 50 yards. On passes thrown 30 yards or more this season, the Jets are tied for the league lead for the best completion percentage (50.0%) and most touchdowns (five). Unfortunately, the Jets have struggled in the fourth quarter this season, having been outscored 117-44 in the final 15 minutes, while seven of McCown’s 11 turnovers have come in the final quarter. That clearly doesn’t bode well against a Kansas City team that has outscored their opponents 98-67 in the fourth. “We expect to get the best Kansas City team,” Jets head coach Todd Bowles said. “Obviously, they started fast and we don’t know the reason why they won or why they lost. We just know they’re dangerous.”Latest NFL Week 13 Betting Trends
