Many people up in the Big Apple are up in arms over the fact that the Giants didn’t draft a quarterback in this year’s draft, but at least they can take solace in the fact that rookie running back Saquon Barkley has the clean-cut look of a once-in-a-generation kind of running back.The G-Men (1-5 SU, 2-4 ATS) were on the wrong end of a humbling 34-13 against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, but Barkley was amazing for New York. While Eli Manning was pedestrian at best in passing for 281 yards with no touchdowns and one interception, Barkley was absolutely astounding in rushing for 130 yards and one touchdown on just 13 carries while adding nine receptions for an additional 99 yards to narrowly miss out on becoming the first player in franchise history with a 100-yards rushing and receiving performance in the same game.
“We didn’t do anything well enough to win tonight,” Giants coach Pat Shurmur said. “Credit Philadelphia. Good football team.”
In Manning’s defense, he was under immense pressure from Philly’s front seven from the outset. The two-time Super Bowl winner has sacked him four times and hit 13 other times.
“We want to get after the passer every week,” coach Doug Pederson said. “These games are battles. It all comes down to which team gets after the passer. We hit Eli and put him on the ground. That was big.”

“Obviously it’s very special any time your name is brought up with Joe’s,” Ryan said. “But I’m more excited about the win.”
