Player Movement and Possible Future Moves

Last season was a bit of an unexpected one for the Packers in tat we perhaps expected them to have a it of a transition period after bringing in a new head coach. They did have a bit of a wobbly start to the season, especially on the offensive side of things, but the Packers soon got rolling on their way to a 13-3 season and a trip to the NFC Conference Final, where they were destroyed by the 49ers.

One of the problems that the Packers face moving forward is that the major moves they made in the past couple of seasons were all done to address the needs of the defense. While those moves certainly paid off, it also meant that the Packers were left a little short at the WR position, which left Aaron Rodgers with very few legitimate targets other than Davante Adams.

The Packers appear to be doing a bit of house cleaning in the opening week of free agency, but they have yet to seriously dip their toe into the market in terms of bringing in new blood. One of the biggest names leaving the Packers is TE Jimmy Graham, who did not perform at a very high level last season. They did re-sign Marcedes Lewis to a 1-year deal at that position, so expect him to get most of the playing time next season.

As it stands at the moment, the Packers still have 8 free agents on the books, with 7 of them being unrestricted. This is a team with a lot of decisions to make in the coming weeks. Will they go big in free agency or will they rely a little more heavily on the draft? Only time will tell.

The Green Bay Packers Odds to Win the Super Bowl

The Packers need to be considered a threat in the NFC again this coming season, but they need to improve their run defense and their receiving corp. If they can do that, they might well be a very good bet at their current odds to win the Super Bowl of +1600.
