Green Bay Packers Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Written by on April 28, 2020

After going a stellar 13-3 in head coach Matt LaFleur’s first season a year ago, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will be looking to go a couple of steps further than they did in 2019 when they reached the NFC Championship. Now, with free agency and the 2020 NFL draft both in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to take a look at what could lie ahead for the reigning NFC North division champs once the 2020 regular season gets underway along with their NFL Odds for the 2020 season.

Green Bay Packers Super Bowl LV Odds & Analysis After Draft

Packers Offense Analysis

The Packers went a stellar 13-3 last season to win the NFC North by three games over second place Minnesota while also going a bankroll-boosting 10-6 ATS. While the Packer succeeded in a big way before falling to San Francisco in the NFC Championship game, it wasn’t because they were elite offensively. You see, Green Bay finished the 2019 campaign ranked an unassuming 18th in total offense, 17th in passing and 15th in both, rushing and scoring (23.5 ppg).

Future Hall of fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 62.0 percent of his passes for 4,002 yards with 26 touchdowns and just four interceptions, but his 95.4 passer rating was his second lowest in his last 11 seasons. While running back Aaron Jones had his best season by rushing for 1,202 yards and catching 49 passes for an additional 474 yards with 19 combined touchdowns, the Packers got little production from any other running back on their roster and the same goes for Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams who put up 1,295 receiving yards and five scores.

To address their needs on offense, Green Bay re-signed veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis, wide receiver Devin Funchess and tackle Rick Wagner in free agency while drafting Utah State quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick in the draft and Boston College running back A.J. Dillon in the second round while adding a trio of offensive lineman in the sixth round.

Packers Defense Analysis

The Packers were solid, if not overpowering, defensively a year ago in finishing 18th overall, 14th against the pass, 23rd against the run and an encouraging ninth in points allowed (19.6 ppg). To address their needs on the defensive side of the ball, Green Bay signed linebacker Christian Kirksey in free agency while drafting linebacker Kamal Martin in the fifth round.

Green Bay Overall Analysis

The Packers didn’t do a whole lot on the defensive side of the ball, although they did decent (I guess) in adding Devin Funchess on offense. Still, it was expected the Packers would use one of their first picks on a play-making receiver and the Packers really came up short in their bid to give Aaron Rodgers some more weapons for the upcoming 2020 campaign. The bottom line is that I’m expecting the Pack to take a step back from the 13 wins they recorded a year ago and you should too!
