The start of the football season is still a few months away, but we are just a week away from June 1, which is when the business side of the new NFL season begins. When that date arrives, we are going to see some more major moves made as teams look to build out their squad for the coming season. The changes made in the next few weeks could have an impact on how well a team might perform this season, as well as their odds for the coming year. We will address all of that at a later date, but for now, let’s take a look at the early NFL odds for the Indianapolis Colts and their chances of winning the Super Bowl so you can plan your bets against their Super Bowl odds.
NFL Betting – Indianapolis Colts Calendar Odds & Analysis For the 2021-22 Season
The Colts in 2020
The Colts started the 2020 season thinking they had a team good enough to compete, although they also knew that their QB of choice was not a long-term decision. Phillip Rivers was always going to be a 1-year deal, but he did his part to help the team make it into the postseason, albeit through one of the Wild Card slots in the AFC. This year, it will be Carson Wentz, who the Colts picked up in a deal with the Eagles, who will be running the show.
In 2020, the AFC South turned into a 2-horse race between the Colts and the Titans. Both teams finished with the same 9-7 record, but the Titans took top spot, courtesy of a tiebreaker. Given that the Jacksonville Jaguars are rebuilding, and the Houston Texans are a mess, we are potentially looking at a repeat of what we saw last year in the South.
Odds to Make the Playoffs and Win the Super Bowl
As mentioned, Indianapolis and Tennessee are almost certainly going to be battling for division supremacy. Since both teams have very similar schedules, how they fare when they face one another could well be the deciding factor. The Colts look to have a very manageable schedule, so you would certainly like their chances to match what they did last season, or perhaps even go a win or two better this time around. Here are their current odds to make the playoffs this season:
The big question mark for the Colts heading into the 2021 season is Carson Wentz. He has had injury issues his entire career and took a massive step back last year. To be fair, it seemed as though things had turned pretty toxic in Philadelphia, but how much of a role Wentz played in that whole affair is open to discussion. If he can turn things around and thrive in a new environment, the Colts will almost certainly make the playoffs, and might well do so with double-digit wins. If he can’t, then we are looking at a long season and some serious postseason uncertainty.
One of the best measuring sticks for the Colts this season will come when they face the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That game won’t make or break their season, but it might impact their odds to win it all, which currently sits at +1800.
