Jacksonville Jaguars 2018 NFL Win/Loss Odds Prediction

Written by on July 12, 2018

The Jacksonville Jaguars have turned into a bit of a laughing stock in the NFL in recent years, with the specter of relocation constantly hanging over them. They have an owner who does not always seem committed to putting a winning team on the field, but that all changes last year, with the Jaguars making it all the way to the AFC Conference Championship Game last season before losing a heartbreaker to the New England Patriots. The Jags will be looking to go one better this season, but can they do it with a QB in Blake Bortles who the jury is still out on? They do have a great defense, though, so they must still be considered a threat in the AFC. The bookies have their season win total set at O/U 8 games, so let’s take a closer look at their upcoming season.

Week by Week Analysis

Games for Weeks 1-4

Week 1 sees the Jaguars head to the Big Apple to face the New York Giants, the first time that VP of football operations Tom Coughlin will face his old team. Coughlin should get the last laugh here. The home opener for the Jags comes in Week 2 against the Patriots, who will be without the services of Julian Edelman. This is a real test for the Jags that I think they might fall short on. Next, is a home game against the Titans, which I see as a win, followed by a home game with the Jets, which should be another win, taking the Jags to 3-1.

Games for Weeks 5-8

Arrowhead is never an easy place to visit, but with the Chiefs committing to Patrick Mahomes at QB, it’s tough to know what to expect from them this season. Jags to win on the road. Next up is a trip to Dallas, which may be a defeat. I think a split from these two road games seems the most likely outcome. I like the Jaguars to take out the Texans at home, which I think will be followed by a loss to the Eagles in London in Week 8, taking Jacksonville to 5-3 on the season.

Games for Weeks 10-13

The Jags get a bye in Week 9 and then return with a very winnable game in Indianapolis versus the Colts. Things get tougher the following week with the Steelers coming to town with revenge in their mind after losing to the Jags in the Divisional Round last season. The Jaguars come in as betting favorites to win the AFC South in the 2018 NFL Season. I see the black and gold getting that revenge. This section of the season closes out with a pair of games that the Jags should win; on the road versus the Bills and at home to the Colts. After 12 games, I have the Jaguars at 8-4.

Games for Weeks 14-17

A road trip to Tennessee to face the Titans in Week 14 could go a long way towards deciding who wins the South. I have the Jags winning a close one, which I believe they follow up with a win at home versus the Redskins and a road win over the Dolphins. The final game of the season will see the Jags on the road at Houston, a game I think they will lose, taking them to 11-5 on the season and OVER the 8 game win total.
