Jermaine Kearse caught 6-of-12 targets for 66 yards and a touchdown. Kearse’s 66 yards were his most since Week 6 while the targets were a new season high. Even though the offense has averaged only 11.2 points per game during the five-game losing streak, Todd Bowles said he’s not considering a change at offensive coordinator. He said Jeremy Bates will continue to call plays. “I thought he called a good game (yesterday),” Bowles said. Good? No. Unconventional? Yes. Bates called 50 pass plays and only 12 runs. Asked why he’s sticking with Bates, Bowles said, “It’s everybody involved, it’s just not Jeremy. The other coaches and the players as well, we’re all involved in it. It’s never pointed to one person.” It’s not clear yet if Darnold will play this week. Darnold leads the NFL in interceptions (14), even though he missed the past two games, but he displayed intriguing potential before slipping into a funk.
