I am going to start this out by saying the same thing that I say every year, which is that no-one should be getting too carried away with the results in the preseason. There are going to be a lot of the biggest name in the game who see very limited time on the field over the course of the 4-week preseason, which is why the stats leaders you see in these games are very seldom of the household name variety. We are also not seeing much of the playbook from any teams, with plays on the offensive and defensive side of the football about as vanilla as it gets.
Still, these games are a good way to gauge the potential depth of each team at every position, and with every player still on the roster looking to make a spot in the final 53, you can bet that these games will be competitive. Preseason or not, the Falcons will be looking for a win after losing their opening 2 games, including the Hall of Fame Game. The Falcons will start this one as a slight NFL Betting favorite against the NY Jets, with the point total currently sitting at 44.

Why bet on the New York Jets?
The New York Jets opened up their preseason with a 31-22 loss to their cross-city rivals, the New York Giants. While the Jets beat the Giants in most of the major categories, they fell well behind on total yards and also gave up a TD from a turnover. It was a typically sloppy performance for an opening preseason game, but there were some highlights for the Jets. QB Trevor Siemian, who will be backing up Sam Darnold this season, went 14-17 for 77 yards and a TD.
If we are looking at previous performances versus Atlanta, the Jets look like a very decent bet here, as they are 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 outings versus the Falcons. It has been the OVER that has hit in 5 of the last 6 games for the Jets.

Why bet on the Atlanta Falcons?
The Falcons come into this one with an 0-2 record in the preseason after losing to the Broncos and the Dolphins. This will be their first game in the Benz this season, so it will certainly be nice for them to get a game in front of their own fans. Where the Hall of Fame Game was a low-scoring affair, the offenses opened up last week, with the Falcons losing 34-27 to the Dolphins.
As expected, none of the first team guys saw much, if any, time on the field, with back-up QB Matt Schaub having a decent night at 12-19 for 173 yards and no turnovers. One area where the Falcons really struggled was in third-down efficiency, going just 4-12 versus Miami. It will be interesting to see if any of the big guns take the field this Thursday.
Team Stats (Offense)
- Points per Game: 17.67

- Rushing Yards: 116.33
