While I’m a bit leery of the almost touchdown spread in this matchup, I am going to urge you to back Jacksonville to get the narrow cover in this Week 8 matchup. The Jags have looked solid in wins over Tennessee, Denver and lowly Cincinnati, but what impresses me the most is that the Jags have competed well all season long and fought particularly hard in road losses to Houston and New Orleans while limiting both opponents to an identical 13 points.
The Jets are an uninspiring 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games while Jacksonville has gone 4-0 ATS in their last four games against their AFC counterparts and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 meetings against New York. While I love Jets quarterback Sam Darnold and I believe he has an extremely bright future (if he gets the hell out of New York), I’m also seriously impressed with the play of Jacksonville’s Gardner Minshew.
