With 3 weeks left in the NFL season, there are still 23 teams in with a shot at picking up the 9 remaining playoff spots. While that may seem like a large number of teams, keep in mind that a large number of those still mathematically in the hunt are just 1 more loss away from being officially eliminated, so expect that 23 to be cut dramatically this weekend. The Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills are absolutely not going to be part of the playoff picture, with both teams now using the final few weeks to evaluate what they have and what they need to do to improve ahead of next season.

It’s probably fair to suggest that both teams need a serious upgrade on the offensive side of the football, as both are lacking in the weapons needed to help their respective QB’s. With that in mind, we could potentially be looking at a low scoring affair here, but is that how things will actually play out? The point total is set at a very low 38 points, with the Bills in as a 2 ½ point home favorite.

Why bet on the Detroit Lions?

It has been a rough stretch of games for the Lions, who have picked up just 2 wins in their last 7 games, with the latest coming last week against a very poor Arizona Cardinals team. It was also only the second time that Detroit had covered the spread during that run, although it should be noted that on the season, they are 4-2 ATS on the road.
