While the Detroit Lions are a three-win playoff longshot at this point, the 5-3 Chicago Bears have been one of the most pleasantly surprising teams in all of football and have some very real playoff hopes heading into their final eight games of the 2018 NFL regular season.
Either way, this NFL Week 10 NFC North divisional showdown looks like a revealing contest for both teams as the Bears look to take another step toward a playoff berth and the Lions look to improve on their underwhelming first half of the season in head coach Matt Patricia’s first season at the helm.
If you’re ready to find out which one of these longstanding rivals is the right pick to get the win and cover the chalk, let’s get to my expert NFL betting prediction right now.

Why Bet On The Detroit Lions?
Why should you bet on the Lions in this divisional showdown? Well, the Lions still have the best quarterback on the field in Matthew Stafford and that’s a decent reason. There’s also the fact that Detroit should have more than its fair share of desperation seeing as how they’ve lost two straight including their 24-9 loss against Minnesota on Sunday. The bad news is that the Lions are struggling in scoring 14 points or less in each of their last two games. Matthew Stafford was limited to 199 passing yards with no TDs or interceptions while suffering a whopping 10 sacks in the loss.
“Fundamentals and execution is what’s holding us back right now,” first-year head coach Matt Patricia said. “That’s where we have to start.”

Why Bet On The Chicago Bears?
Why should you bet on the Bears to hold it down at home in this Week 10 showdown? There are a bunch of great reasons, starting wit the fact that they’re playing at home. Another good reason is that Chicago has a little momentum going right now, having won two straight games by getting past the rebuilding New York Jets 24-10 in Week 8 before smacking the completely awful Bills senseless in their overpowering 41-9 win on Sunday.
Mitch Trubisky threw one touchdown pass in the win while running back Jordan Howard rushed for two scores. Chicago’s defense picked off incompetent Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman three times in the loss.

Lions vs Bears NFL Betting Prediction
I said it before the season started and I’ll say it again. I thought the Lions were foolish to part ways with former head coach Jim Caldwell after he produced a couple of winning seasons and now they’re suffering for it. I thought the Lions would have been better served getting an offensive-minded head coach like Chicago did with former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, but instead they chose Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.
Now, Detroit’s offense looks awful. The Lions have not scored more than 14 points in each of their last two games and I don’t think Chicago’s fourth-ranked defense is going to take it lightly on the beleaguered Lions. Chicago is averaging almost seven points per game more than Detroit while simultaneously giving up seven fewer points per game than their longtime NFC North division rivals defensively.
Chicago has gone 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games, making the Bears the pick to win and narrowly cover the chalk!
