This season, every game between two NFC West teams is going to be crucial. All four teams in the West are potentially playoff contenders. This Thursday night’s game is huge, as the Los Angeles Rams head to Seattle to take on the Seahawks and their 12th Man cheering section.
The Rams come into this one on the heels of their first season loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals’ win put them in sole possession of the first place in the West with a record of 4-0. The Rams are now 3-1 in the division and are in second place.
NFL Betting Preview for Rams at Seahawks
This game is big for Seattle, as they’re currently sitting at 2-2. The Seahawks know that a loss will really put them in a bind, as they’ll then be sitting with three losses early in the season. Teams in the NFC West can’t afford to dig themselves too big of a hole, especially this early in the season. It’s time we take a closer look at both teams and how they arrive to this match so you can bet against their NFL odds.
Is there a Home Field Advantage?
Over the previous two seasons, the home team has won each of the four games. However, the Rams went to Seattle for a playoff matchup last year and walked away with a victory. The Rams have also won six of the last eight times that these two have played. The 12th man could play a big role in this primetime affair.
When Will Seattle Decide to Play Defense?
No one is questioning the Seahawks’ ability to score points. The main issue is Seattle’s inability to stop their opponents from scoring. In their 28-21 victory over San Francisco last Sunday, the Seattle defense gave up 457 total yards of offense. The Seahawks defense has given up nearly 1800 yards in their four games, with 1170 of those coming via the pass. The defense can’t keep putting pressure on Russell Wilson and the offense to outscore everyone.
Who Will be the Key Players in this Game?
We’re going to go with Tyler Lockett of Seattle. With Jalen Ramsey more than likely shadowing DK Metcalf throughout the evening, it will be up to Wilson to get the ball to Lockett. Wilson will also need Chris Carson to have a huge game to keep Matthew Stafford and the Rams’ offense off the field.
Who Will Win?
The Rams are a one-point road favorite heading into this one. In looking at the numbers, they tend to favor Los Angeles. Through the first four weeks, the favorite is 4-0 in Thursday night games. The Rams are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight and are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games following a straight-up loss. The Rams are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the Seahawks.
Seattle is 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games, following a straight-up win to further pile on to the Rams case for winning. We already thought that the Rams offense would be too much for Seattle to stop, and now the numbers really back up our case. Los Angeles wins this one 35-30.
