NFL Miami At New England Expert Predictions

Written by on September 16, 2016

After putting up a great effort in Week 1 before narrowly falling to Seattle, the new-look Miami Dolphins will look to get both, the SU and ATS victories when they visit a New England Patriots team that won their regular season opener – without Tom Brady. Now, let’s find out if the Fins have what it takes to bring home the bacon with the latest NFL free picks.

A Closer Look At The NFL Dolphins At Patriots Expert Predictions

When: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, September 18, 2016 Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts TV: CBS NFL Odds: New England -6.5

Bet The Miami Dolphins +6.5 Because…

The Fins apparently have a newfound fondness for defense! Miami Dolphins put up a helluva’ fight, particularly on defense, before falling to Seattle late in their 12-10 Week 1 loss to the Seahawks. Unfortunately, the Dolphins’ offense managed just 214 yards and 10 points, although they never turned the ball over. Enigmatic quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed just 16 of his 29 passes for 186 yards while rushing for 17 yards and one touchdown. Veteran running back Arian Foster rushed for 38 yards and added three receptions while Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry caught seven passes. Defensively the Dolphins limited Seattle to a modest 12 points while recovering one fumble and picking off Russell Wilson once and sacking him three times.

Bet The New England Patriots at -6.5 Because…

The Patriots are playing at home and have Bill Belichick on their sideline. New England didn’t have Tom Brady under center for their 2016 opener, but managed to beat the Arizona Cardinals on the road as Jimmy Garroppolo completed 24 of 33 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown to lead the Patriots to victory. Veteran running back LeGarrette Blount rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown while wide receiver Julian Edelman added seven catches. Defensively, the Patriots sacked Carson Palmer three times while defensive back Devin McCourty recorded a team-high 10 tackles.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

I know the New England Patriots looked really solid in their hard-fought 23-21 Week 1 win over Arizona as a 9.5-point road dog without Tom Brady under center, but the Miami Dolphins may have looked even better despite losing to Seattle 12-10 as a 10.5-point road underdog. While the Patriots have owned the AFC East and are perennial playoff participants to Miami’s often underachieving ways, the Dolphins have more than held their own against New England recently. Miami has won three of the last five meetings against New England and just looked like a different team under new head coach Adam Gase than they ever were under previous head coach Joe Philbin. I loved the effort of Ndamukong Suh and the rest of Miami’s front seven and I believe they’re going to get after Jimmy Garoppolo while forcing him into at least one costly turnover. While Miami is just 2-6 ATS in its last 8 games and New England has gone 1-4-1 ATS in its last six games following an SU win. It may look a bit strange, but I’m going to urge you to back the Miami Dolphins for the huge upset!

My Pick: Miami 24 New England 21
