New England at Cleveland Free Pick & Betting Spread

Written by on October 7, 2016

The New England Patriots almost assuredly won’t have any problems in beating the winless Cleveland Browns when they square off early Sunday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium. With this Week 5 pairing looking like one of the biggest mismatches this season, let’s find out how much the Pats will win by in the NFL lines!

Here’s a Quick Look at the New England at Cleveland Free Pick & Betting Spread & TV Info

When: Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM ET Where: FirstEnergy Stadium TV: CBS NFL Odds: Cleveland Browns +10.5 Over/Under: 46.5

Why Bet The New England Patriots?

The Patriots are coming off a loss and will have Tom Brady back on the field! New England (3-1 SU, 3-1 ATS) suffered their first loss of the season in their stunning 16-0 Week 4 loss against Buffalo while failing to cover the spread as a 3.5-point favorite no less. Tom Brady will make his first start of the season after serving a four-game suspension and he’ll take over an offense that is averaging a modest 20.2 points per game (23rd). Brady will throw early and often to tight end Martellus Bennett and wide receiver Julian Edelman with the pair already combining for 443 receiving yards and one touchdown.  Veteran running back LeGarrette Blount has rushed for a team-high 352 yards and four touchdowns and New England is limiting their opponents to just 15.3 points per game to rank fourth overall.

Why Bet The Cleveland Browns?

The Browns have played competitive football all season long and are playing at home. Cleveland (0-4 SU, 1-3 ATS) is coming off a hard-fought 31-20 Week 4 loss against Washington while failing to cover the spread as a 7.5-point underdog. The Browns are down to their third string quarterback in rookie Cody Kessler, but I think that’s a good thing. The former USC star is completing 67.1 percent of his passes for 467 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor and tight end Gary Barnidge have combined for 450 receiving yards and one touchdown while running back Isaiah Crowell has rushed for a team-high 386 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Cleveland is allowing a whopping 28.8 points per game to rank 27th overall.

My Free Prediction and Pick

I’m going to get right to the point by saying that I am fully expecting the New England Patriots to throttle Cleveland en route to a decisive blowout win that sends a message to everyone that Tom Brady is back. I know the Patriots are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games, but the Pats are also 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 5 and will be taking on a Cleveland team that has gone 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. I know the home team in this rivalry has gone 5-2- 2 ATS in the last nine meetings, but not this time around. New England wins and cashes in with plenty of room to spare! My Pick: New England 31 Cleveland 17
