OTA’s have begun, which is a sure sign that training camp and the start of the NFL season is not that far in the distance. There is still going to be some business done before training camps assemble, as we are expecting a flurry of activity as soon as the calendar turns over into June, the official start of the new NFL season off the field. In the coming weeks, it will be all about putting the final touches on rosters and hoping that players stay healthy all the way through to the opening kick-off. We are going to take an early look at every team in the league, so let’s get rolling with the New York Giants and then you can plan your bets against their NFL odds.
NFL Betting – New York Giants Calendar Odds & Analysis For the 2021-22 Season
The Giants in 2020
In any other season, the New York Giants would have been out of playoff contention by midseason, but the NFC East was a division that no one seemed to want to win in 2020. The Giants were able to hang around and take a run at a playoff spot, they but ended up coming up short. The loss of Saquon Barkley early in the season did not help, with the offense sputtering along the way and managing just 280 points on the season.
Given the injury to Barkley, it is perhaps a little surprising that the Giants still managed to win 6 games last season. You would certainly expect them to improve this time around, as they had a bog offseason that saw them invest a lot of money on the offensive side of the football. There is no guarantee that the East is going to be as weak this season, so the Giants need to get out of the gate quickly.
Odds to Make the Playoffs and Win the Super Bowl
It really is tough to know what to make of this division after what we saw last season. You have to think that all 4 teams are going to be better, but who really knows. The Giants have what looks to be a favorable first few weeks, opening the season against Denver, Washington, and Atlanta, all games that look to be winnable. If their newly built offense can get in a groove early, they will have a chance to see their season get off to a very positive start. Here is what the bookies think of the Giants chances of making the playoffs this season:
While I am not suggesting that the Giants are some dark horse that you should be riding all the way to the Super Bowl, I do believe that they have a shot at winning the NFC East. Again, much of this depends on how quickly their new pieces gel, and whether or not Daniel Green can take a step forward now that he has some weapons at his disposal, including WR Kenny Golloday. I believe that the Giants have a shot at posting a winning record this season, but they could just as easily go 8-9 as they could go 9-8. It will be the games against division foes that will be crucial for them this season.
Despite all the positive moves made this past offseason, this is a team that still looks a long way from being a serious contender. The bookies have the Giants at +6600 to win the Super Bowl, which is more than fair.
