New York Jets 2018 NFL Win/Loss Odds Prediction

Written by on July 19, 2018

The New York Jets are a team in a state of flux. After being limited to a paltry five wins for the second consecutive season a year ago, the Jets would like to improve to, let’s say, 8-8, at the very least in 2018. However, they are also building for the near future while hoping and praying that No. 3 overall draft pick, former USC star quarterback Sam Darnold can become the franchise star they’ve been lacking at the position since we all found out that ‘Mr. Butt Fumble’ was not that guy. Now, as the Jets get set for the upcoming 2018 regular season, NFL betting enthusiasts that want to bet on their regular season win total odds, needs to know what the likely outcome is for the longtime AFC East residents. Thankfully, that’s where I come in with my expert predictions on each and every game on New York’s 2018 schedule. Now, let’s get started.

New York Jets 2018 NFL Win/Loss Odds Prediction

  • New York Jets Regular Season Win Total Odds – 6.5

Week 1: Monday, Sept. 10, at Detroit Lions, 7:10 p.m. ET

New Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia, who knows the Jets schemes very well from his time with the New England Patriots. That fact, combined with the fact that Detroit will be playing at home, will be just enough to lead the Lions to victory. Loss. 0-1.

Week 2: Sunday, Sept. 16, vs. Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets beat the Dolphins at home in Week 3 last year and they’ll get the home win over the Fins again in this Week 2 AFC East divisional battle as part of a regular season split. Win. 1-1.

Week 3: Thursday, Sept. 20, at Cleveland Browns, 8:20 p.m. ET

This Thursday night prime time matchup should be a good game between two evenly matched teams. Cleveland gets the win in this one though behind veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Loss. 1-2.

Week 4: Sunday, Sept. 30, at Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m. ET

The Jaguars are going to shut down whoever starts under center for New York in this one. Jacksonville has some legitimate Super Bowl hopes and the Jets do not! Loss. 1-3.

Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 7, vs. Denver Broncos, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets lost to Denver 23-0 at Mile High Stadium last season and I’ve got them falling to the improved Broncos again at home in this Week 5 AFC battle because of Denver’s addition of veteran quarterback Case Keenum. Loss. 1-4.

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 14, vs. Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. ET

Andrew Luck will be back on the field for the Colts in 2018 but Indy has problems on both sides of the ball they still need to address. Todd Bowles’ defensive schemes leads New York to the home win in this one! Win. 2-4.

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 21, vs. Minnesota Vikings, 1 p.m. ET

Minnesota will completely and utterly shut down New York’s modest offense from beginning to end! Loss. 2-5.

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 28, at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m. ET

Jets head coach Todd Bowles played high school football for new Bears head coach Matt Nagy when he was just a toddler over three decades ago. Unfortunately for Bowles though, Chicago gets the big home win in this contest as they’ll likely be a bit desperate at home by the time this Week 5 matchup rolls around. Loss. 2-6.

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 4, at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m. ET

Miami gets the regular season split in this one even though every quarterback on New York’s roster is better than Miami’s Ryan Tannehill. 2-7.

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 11, vs. Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. ET

The Bills snapped a 17-year playoff drought last season, but they foolishly parted ways with starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor in favor of the combination of AJ McCarron and Nathan Peterman while they groom rookie Josh Allen. Bad move! The Jets win at home in this divisional battle! Win. 3-7.

Week 11: Bye

Are the Jets a safe bet for the 2018 NFL season?

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 25, vs. New England Patriots, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets got swept by the division rival Patriots and it will take a miracle for them to avoid another sweep in 2018. Loss. 3-8.

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 2, at Tennessee Titans, 1 p.m. ET

The Titans also have a first-time head coach in former Patriots assistant Mike Vrabel, but he’s inherited a playoff team and one that has a really good young quarterback in Marcus Mariota. Tennessee wins at home. Loss. 3-9.

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 9, at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m. ET

The Jets have lost five of their last six road games against the Bills. Buffalo gets the win as part of their regular season split. Loss. 3-10.

Week 15: Saturday, Dec. 15, vs. Houston Texans, 4:30 or 8:20 p.m. ET

The Jets are one of the teams that foolishly passed on drafting Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson. Loss. 3-11.

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 23, vs. Green Bay Packers, 1 p.m. ET

Did you know that Packers’ superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers is 26-8 in December and January since 2009? The Packers win on the frozen tundra. Loss. 3-12.

Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 30, at New England Patriots, 1 p.m. ET

The Patriots get the relatively easy home in in their regular season finale to hit the playoffs with some momentum! Loss. 3-13. Maybe it’s me, but I’ve got the Jets taking a significant step backwards in 2018. I love head coach Todd Bowles and I love New York’s drafting of quarterback Sam Darnold, but I’m expecting things to get worse in New York before they get better in 2019.
