New York Jets NFL Win/Loss Prediction and Odds Analysis

Written by on July 4, 2017

NFL training camps are set to open across the country, which means that it’s time to start talking seriously about the New York Jets for the upcoming football season. There are already some wagers that you can make, with the win totals for each team already posted. These totals help you get an idea of which teams will excel, and which will be doomed to a miserable season. What we have seen over the years, though, is that things don’t always go to plan. There are always a couple of surprise teams that rise to surprise, while some of the big favorites get crippled by injuries that make it impossible for them to compete the way we thought they would. The New York Jets are hoping to be one of those surprise teams this year, although their win total odds for the 2017 NFL season would suggest that the bookies believe they are going to seriously struggle.

Let’s break down their NFL betting schedule by month to see if we can come up with the Over or Under for this group.

Here’s A Closer Look At The New York Jets NFL Win/Loss Prediction and Odds Analysis

Jets in September

If the New York Jets are to cross that 4.5-win barrier, they are going to need to find a way to beat some of the other poor teams in the league. They will get a shot to do that in Week 1 when they travel to Buffalo to face the Bills. Unfortunately, I think they will come up short. Next up is a trip to face the Raiders which does not look like a winnable game for this team. The Jets will close out the opening month of the season with a visit from the Miami Dolphins. I think they might also score their first win. Jets go 1-2 in September.

Jets in October

October starts with a visit from the Jaguars, another team that could well be there for the taking. I think the jags will spring the mild surprise on the road. Next up is a road trip to Cleveland to face a Browns team that is coming off a 1-win season. Let’s go with the Jets to take this one. Week 6 will see the Patriots come to town, and I think we are in for a shock here. The New York Jets always seem to play well against the champs, and I think they might just sneak the win. It’s back to reality the following week, as I see a trip to Miami ending in defeat. The month of October ends with a visit from the Falcons, which also mean that it ends with a loss. The Jets go 2-3 in October, putting them at 3-5 on the season.

Jets in November

It’s a return meeting with the Bills to start the month, but I think the rot will be starting to set in at this point, and I see them losing again. Next up is a trip to Tampa Bay to face an improved Buccaneers team, and that means that another loss is set to go into the books. That is followed by a much-needed bye week, after which the Jets host the Panthers, another team who will be much better this season. That means yet another loss for the Jets. Jets go winless in October and 3-8 on the season. Week 15 features a road trip to New Orleans to face the Saints, where Drew Brees will light up the Jets D.

Jets in December

The final month of the season begins with a visit from the Chiefs, and another loss for New York. That is followed by a brutal trip to Denver to face the Broncos, with the losses now really beginning to add up. Week 15 features a road trip to New Orleans to face the Saints, where Drew Brees will light up the Jets D. I do think the Jets will get some joy in the penultimate week of the season with a home win over the Chargers, but that will be followed by a loss to the Patriots in the last game of the season. A 1-4 month for the Jets, and a 4-12 season.

Conclusion

The Jets do have some winnable games throughout the season, but I just don’t think they are good enough to get the wins to taken them over the bookie total. Jets go UNDER 4.5.
