NFC South Betting Favorites, Possible Upsets and Surprises

NFC South Betting Favorites, Possible Upsets and Surprises

One of the most interesting divisions in all of the National Football League for the 2023 season is the NFC South. Every team in the divisional has won the division at least once since 2013. Dating back to 2012, each team has won the division at least twice.

Overall, New Orleans has the most divisional titles with 7, including four straight from 2017-2020. Carolina and Tampa Bay have 5, while Atlanta has 4.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are seeking their third straight divisional title, but lost their quarterback.  So, how will the division fare in 2023?

Check out NFC South to win odds, profiles of each team, and a predicted finish for what should be an ultra-competitive division.

NFC South | National Football Conference – Southern Division
Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Atlanta Falcons 8.5:

Atlanta keeps second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder as their starter. Ridder hopes for better results this season, as he team finished with 7 wins. Atlanta did win their last two games to finish in a tie for second place. The Falcons struggled on the road, and that’s a sign of a rookie quarterback. The Falcons are going to make a step forward, and 8.5 is a really good number. We will take the Falcons winning 9 games this season, so betting the OVER 8.5 at -120 is the winner.

Carolina Panthers 7.5:

Bryce Young gets the keys to the offense. An offense that can find a way to be pretty good. Miles Sanders is in as the starting running back. Chuba Hubbard is his back up which gives them a formidable duo. The Panthers have Adam Thielen, DJ Chark, and Terrance Marshall Jr as their receivers. Don’t forget about Jonathan Mingo, we was added to the squad. Young is going to fit in well in the league. We are taking the OVER 7.5 wins at -121 here. Carolina goes 10-7!

New Orleans Saints 9.5:

It’s Derek Carr’s team now in New Orleans. Carr, who was with the Raiders before, is ready to toss the ball all over the field. In the end, though, this still isn’t a Sean Payton-led Saints bunch. New Orleans looks to provide Carr with studs in Chris Olave and Michael Thomas, while Alvin Kamara is back as the lead running back. The defense has lost some pieces, and things don’t seem right for us with the Saints. We are taking the UNDER 9.5 wins at -125 here. The Saints go 8-9.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6.5

Look, we understand training camp is meant to hype players up. But, it’s still Baker Mayfield at quarterback. It’s not Tom Brady.  Rachaad White and Ke’Shawn Vaughn will take over the running back duties in Tampa. The Buccaneers are going to finish in last place in the division. Their win total is set at 6.5, and we are taking the UNDER. The under is -141. Tampa Bay finishes 5-12 in 2023 and last place.

The bigger surprise out of the NFC South would be if any of the teams won the entire NFC and went to the Super Bowl. Here are the betting odds to win the NFC:
