NFL Rumors: Jets Cut Bell, Matty Ice Not Worried, and is Haskins on the move?

NYJ cuts Le’Veon Bell – Chiefs, Bills, and Dolphins on short list

We haven’t even gotten to the halfway point and already one of the most talented running backs in the league has landed with the defending Super Bowl Champions. Le’Veon Bell signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.

If you don’t remember Bell, don’t worry, here’s a quick bio. A few years ago, most considered Bell the best overall player in the NFL. He was Alvin Kamara before the Saints drafted Kamara. Le’Veon believed his own press. So much so that he turned down a $16 million dollar a year franchise tag offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers and sat out a season.

When Bell returned he played for the Jets, which means his career was pretty much over. Can Bell become great again? In Andy Reid’s system, yes. By signing with the Chiefs, Bell knows he is the second best player on the team no matter how well he performs. If he concentrates on football and forgets about the politics, he can turn into an All-Pro again because he’s that good.

Bell’s addition makes the Chiefs potent offense even better. Now, Kansas City can use Bell and rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who has yet to score a touchdown since Week 1, in almost every offensive package. That’s scary.

After Falcons owner Blank fires Quinn, Matt Ryan says he’s not worried

Arthur Blank didn’t give Dan Quinn a chance to pop open a bottle of beer before announcing that he had fired Quinn. The Falcons’ owner felt loyalty to Quinn because Dan had led the ATL to only their second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

But Blank had seen enough bad football management to make the decision to part ways with Quinn. When asked about Matt Ryan, Blank said that they’d “have to see”.

For his part, Ryan is taking the trade talk in stride. “We rent these lockers, we don’t own them,” Ryan stated. That’s a great attitude.

Matty Ice isn’t the issue. He remains one of the better quarterbacks in the league. Plenty of teams would love to have Ryan on their squad. So, if Blank really wants to make a trade, he’ll have people to talk to.

Washington Football Team QB Dwayne Haskins could be on the move

Washington Commanders Ron Rivera says that he hasn’t given up on Dwayne Haskins. That’s hard to believe after the head coach benched Haskins in favor of Kyle Allen and Alex Smith. If Rivera still believed in Haskins, why would he dump him to the end of the bench?

Haskins could be on the move. What team might have interest in the former Ohio State star? The Pittsburgh Steelers is a possible destination.  The Colts are another possibility.

Another rumor has Jets quarterback Sam Darnold on the block. Teams with aging quarterbacks like Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and even the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, may have already started making phone calls about both Haskins and Darnold.

Although Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh, Drew Brees in New Orleans, and Brady in Tampa have played well enough for their teams to boast winning records, all three could end up retiring in the next couple of seasons. The Steelers, Saints, and Buccaneers may want to start grooming a young quarterback to take over for their future hall of fame signal callers.

Have a great weekend!
