Patriots vs Bears NFL Week 7 Betting Odds & Expert Pick

Written by on October 17, 2018

It’s perfectly natural to look at the results of the first few weeks of the season and declare a team to be a Super Bowl favorite or an overpriced dog. We all make the mistake of doing this, but over the course of the 16 games that each NFL franchise plays, the real team is revealed. With 6 weeks in the books, we now know enough about each team to have a decent idea of what they might do the rest of the way. Surprise teams that started quickly have come back down to earth, while heavy favorites who started out slowly are suddenly picking up some steam.

The New England Patriots certainly fall into that latter category, as they are now beginning to look like the Patriots of old after stumbling out the gate to a 1-2 start. They are coming off a huge win over the Chiefs last week, but they have another tough one ahead of them this coming Sunday, as they will be on the road to face a much-improved Chicago Bears team. The Patriots are in as a 4-point favorite, with the point total set at 49 ½.

Why bet on the New England Patriots?

There were a lot of people, myself included, who thought that the Patriots might be on the downward spiral after they started out at 1-2. Getting rookie RB Sony Michel back from injury and seeing Julian Edelman back in the line-up after a suspension seems to have turned things around, though.

They have now won 3-straight and are averaging just shy of 40 PPG during that run. The latest win was a 43-40 thriller over the Kansas City Chiefs, a team who went into that game as one of just two unbeaten teams. While the Patriots are now at 4-2, it is worth remembering that they are still winless on the road this season, although they are a very healthy 14-5 ATS in their last 19 trips away from home. They have gone 7-1 SU in their last 8 games versus the Bears.

Why bet on the Chicago Bears?

If you had spoken to the average Bears fan before the start of the season and asked if they would be happy with a 3-2 record at this point, most would have probably said yes. There is sure to be some disappointment right now, though, as the Bears could just as easily be 4-1 were it not for the fact that they let what looked to be a sure win against the Dolphins slip away last week.

Patriots vs Bears looks like a close one.

This is a much-improved Bears team when compared to last season, especially on defense, where the addition of Khalil Mack has worked wonders. QB Mitch Trubisky is still learning on the job, but the future looks bright for this group. The Bears are just 3-2 ATS this season, but they are a solid 11-3-1 ATS in their last 15 home games despite not being particularly good over the past few seasons.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction for Patriots vs Bears

This looks to be one of the better games on the schedule this week, as these are two very good teams. While I like the Patriots to get the win, I think we are looking at an FG game here, so let’s take the Bears ATS.

Score: New England Patriots 27 – Chicago Bears 24
