In the Divisional Round of last year’s playoffs, the Patriots routed the visiting Titans 35-14. – Tom Brady passed for three touchdowns and 337 yards, and New England rolled to its seventh consecutive AFC championship game. It was Brady’s 10th career postseason game with at least three TD tosses, moving him past Joe Montana for the most in NFL history. James White caught a touchdown pass and ran for another, and Danny Amendola had 11 catches for 112 yards. The Titans took an early 7-0 lead, but New England scored 35 straight points to take control. Marcus Mariota completed 22 of 37 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns.

New England leads the all-time series 25-16-1. The Patriots have won the last seven times the two teams played. New England last played at Tennessee on opening day in 2012 and came away with a 34-13 victory.

Why Bet on New England?

The Patriots won their sixth straight Sunday night as Tom Brady beat Aaron Rodgers, 31-17. Brady completed 22-of-35 passes for 294 yards and a touchdown. It a game-managing night from Brady, who had 121 scoreless at the half. Brady’s only TD was a wide open 55-yard catch and run from Josh Gordon. He’s now had one or fewer touchdowns in three of the last four weeks. It was fitting that in Rodgers’ presence, Brady broke a record held by another rival, Peyton Manning, in becoming the first NFL player to amass more than 80,000 total yards (passing, rushing and receiving) in his career, postseason included. Defensive tackle Lawrence Guy’s forced fumble on Sunday night was a game-turning play, as the team now has 17 takeaways (11 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles), which is the fourth highest total in the NFL.

James White rushed 12 times for 31 yards and two touchdowns and caught 6-of-7 targets for 72 yards. Cordarrelle Patterson rushed 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for seven yards. Josh Gordon caught 5-of-10 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown.

The Patriots were without starting RB Sony Michel and Pro Bowl TE Rob Gronkowski. Not clear yet if either will play here, but it’s looking good for Michel. In the 2 games without Rob Gronkowski this season, the Patriots won both and scored a total of 69 points.

Former Raiders second-round pick Obi Melifonwu, whom Oakland released Oct. 23, is signing with the Patriots’ active roster, according to his agent. Melifonwu adds depth at safety behind Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung, and Duron Harmon, and should also factor into the special-teams mix.

A win this week against Tennessee will guarantee that New England finishes with a .500 or better record for the 18th consecutive season. New England is currently tied with the Cleveland Browns (1957-73) for the second-longest streak at 17 behind the Dallas Cowboys’ (1965-85) streak of 21-straight seasons of finishing with a record of .500 or better.

Why Bet on Tennessee?

New Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will be the first ex-Bill Belichick player to face the Patriots as a head coach, and he’s well-respected in New England. Vrabel, who played for the Patriots from 2001-08, was known for physical and mental toughness, coming through in the clutch and his intelligence, among other things. He was part of the core of players who helped the Patriots win Super Bowls in 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons.

The Titans stopped a 3-game slide Monday night with a 28-14 upset win in Dallas. Marcus Mariota completed 21-of-29 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns. He added 32 yards and a third touchdown on 10 attempts as a runner. Things couldn’t have started any worse for the Titans’ offense, as Mariota was sack-fumbled on the opening series and then lost a second fumble on the very next possession on a botched handoff with Dion Lewis. Things quickly turned around in the second quarter and the rest of the way.

Patriots vs Titans should be a tough one for the home team.

Former Patriots RB Dion Lewis rushed 19 times for 62 yards and caught all four of his targets for 60 yards and one touchdown. The 23 touches marked a new season-high, besting his previous mark of 19 from the Titans’ last game, a London loss to the Chargers in Week 7. It’s clear Lewis is the best fit for this offense, and he’s now totaled 279 yards and a score over his last two outings on 42 touches.

Mariota and the offense had produced 31 points during the losing streak. If kicker Ryan Succop hadn’t missed a 28-yard field goal, the Titans would have matched their point total from the previous three games.

The Titans converted 11 of their 14 attempts on third down against the Cowboys. Their 78.6 percent success rate was the franchise’s best since Nov. 26, 1995, when they converted 81.8 percent (9-11) against the Denver Broncos. The 78.6 percent rate at Dallas also was the highest in an NFL game in 2018 and tied for the highest in the league in the last three seasons. WR Taywan Taylor exited Week 9 against the Cowboys with a foot injury. Taylor caught both of his targets for 24 yards but was hurt on the second grab. The cornerback landed on the back of his leg, pinching and flexing his foot with the turf. Titans RT Jack Conklin is in the concussion protocol. With the Titans on a short week, Conklin will be in a race to get cleared to face the Patriots.
