A total of 14 teams came into the NFL playoffs this season, for the first time ever, but that number has now been reduced to 8 after a Wild Card Weekend that delivered some serious surprises. We have yet to see the #1 seeds in both conferences, as they will make their first appearance in the Divisional Round, which goes this coming weekend, but we have seen the odds on potential Super Bowl matchups take a bit of a shift. We thought it might be a good idea to take a look at the top 5 matchups on the bookie’s boards right now, as well as the Super Bowl odds for each.
Updated Possible Super Bowl LV Matchups After Wild Card Weekend
Green Bay Packers Vs Kansas City Chiefs (+300)
It is sure to come as no surprise that the bookies still like the #1 seeds in each conference to meet up in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs will come into the playoffs with a home game against the Cleveland Browns, who stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend, while the Packers will be at home to the LA Rams. These are both matchups that you would expect the favorites to win, so this might be the best odds you get on this particular matchup.
New Orleans Saints Vs Kansas City Chiefs (+500)
The odds are going to reveal a common theme, which is that the bookies really like the Kansas City Chiefs to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. In this potential matchup, they would face a New Orleans Saints team looking to win one for Drew Brees, who is almost certainly playing his last season in the NFL. The Saints have a tough one this weekend against the Buccaneers, although they have beaten them twice already this season.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vs Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
People talk a lot about playoff experience, but as we saw with the Steelers and Browns, that argument doesn’t necessarily hold water. If we do take that into account, though, then you need to seriously look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who now have Tom Brady under center. They looked solid enough in a win over the Washington Football Team this past weekend, but things are going to get a whole tougher this weekend in The Big Easy.
Green Bay Packers Vs Buffalo Bills (+760)
The Green Bay Packers certainly earned the right to be the #1 seed in the NFC, so it would not be surprising to see them make it all the way to the Super Bowl. Who they might face there is another matter, with many people looking at the Buffalo Bills as a very viable candidate. The Bills got past the Colts in a close one in the Wild Card and will have the Ravens this weekend, so certainly not an easy path to the big game.
Green Bay Packers Vs Baltimore Ravens (+935)
The big question mark with the Baltimore Ravens this season was whether they could get over the playoff hump after losing in the opening round the past two seasons. They did that in Wild Card Weekend, coming back from an early 10-0 deficit to beat the Tennessee Titans 20-13 in a game that was not really as close as the score suggests. The Ravens look very dangerous right now, so any potential Super Bowl matchup that includes them is well worth a look.
