NFL Betting Preview for Jets vs Giants On Aug. 14th

NYJ vs NYG – NFL Preseason Game

Why bet on NYJ versus NYG

A single glance and it’s obvious the Jets roster this season is much better than it was last season. Even if Zach Wilson and Tevin Coleman don’t play, one of the backups, Mike White, James Morgan, or Josh Johnson will. Morgan, especially, could show Jets’ fans something. Buzz surrounded Morgan last season before the draft. If the Jets allow Morgan to throw it all over the field, they should beat the Giants.

NYJ Last 5

  • L – 28-14 at New England
  • W – 23-16 vs. Cleveland
  • W – 23-20 at Los Angeles Rams
  • L – 40-3 at Seattle
  • L – 31-28 vs. Las Vegas

Jets Predicted Offense Starting Lineup

  • QB – James Morgan
  • RB – Tevin Coleman
  • WR – Vyncint Smith
  • WR – Keelan Cole
  • WR – Elijah Moore
  • TE – Ryan Griffin
  • LT – Chuma Edoga
  • LG – Dan Feeney
  • C – James Murray
  • RG – Conor McDermott
  • RT – George Fant

Why bet on NYG against NYJ

Giants’ backup quarterback Mike Glennon has a ton of starting experience. He knows how to play this game and could dominate if he faces the Jets’ second or third string defense. The Giants won’t play Saquon Barkley, who is recovering from an injury. But running backs Devontae Booker and Corey Clement can get it done. If the Giants give ample playing time to Booker and Glennon, they’ll win this game.

NYG Last 5

  • W – 23-19 vs. Dallas
  • L – 27-13 at Baltimore
  • L – 20-6 vs. Cleveland
  • L – 26-7 vs. Arizona

  • WR – Dante Pettis
  • WR – Sterling Shepard
  • WR – Kadarius Toney
  • TE – Nakia Griffin-Stewart
  • LT – Jackson Barton
  • LG – Kyle Murphy
  • C – Jonotthon Harrison

Final Betting Analysis: New York Jets at New York Giants

Both teams have rookie head coaches, which means we should expect play-calling close to what we will see during the season.

Rookie coaches have a steeper hill to climb because players are new to their systems. The Giants have a veteran edge with Glennon, Booker, and Shepard. There’s no guarantee NYG plays those three for long stretches, though.

On the other side, the Jets will want to know what they’ve got with James Morgan. The buzz was close to deafening regarding Morgan before the 2020 NFL Draft. Because the Jets are committed to starting Zach Wilson, NYJ may play Morgan for most of this game, hoping they can unload him for a third or fourth round draft pick.

If Morgan comes through, the Jets will win this game. Backing NYJ makes sense.
