Why Bet the Tennessee Titans Odds at +3?

The Titans fell to 1-2 in preseason play by getting smacked around by the Chicago Bears in their 19-7 Week 3 loss while failing to cover the spread as a 3-point home favorite. Starting quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 12 of 21 passes for 193 yards and one touchdown, but the Titans were held to just 79 rushing yards in the loss. Defensively, the Titans gave up two passing touchdowns in the loss while veteran backup Matt Cassel lost a fumble. Cassel will start in Week 4 but he’s just 12 for 20 this NFL preseason with zero touchdown passes. Tennessee has given up a combined 46 points in their last two preseason games despite the fact that their defense has four sacks and four turnovers during the stretch.

Why Bet the Kansas City Chiefs Odds at -3?

The Chiefs fell to 1-2 in preseason action by losing to Seattle 26-13 in Week 3 as starting quarterback Alex Smith was limited to 7 of 17 passing with no touchdowns or interceptions. Rookie backup Pat Mahomes II completed 8 of 15 passes for 70 yards and third-stringer Tyler Bray completed 4 of 6 passes for 54 yards in the loss. The Chiefs fell to 1-2 in NFL preseason action by losing to Seattle 26-13 in Week 3 as starting quarterback Alex Smith was limited to 7 of 17 passing with no touchdowns or interceptions. Kansas City got a team-high 39 rushing yards from Kareem Hunt but allowed Seattle’s Russell Wilson to complete 13 of 19 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown in the loss while allowing third-string backup Austin Davis to add another touchdown pass. For their Week 4 finale, Mahomes II will get the lion’s share of reps and has played well this NFL preseason.  With an injury to starting running back Spencer Ware, backups Kareem Hunt, Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller will look to impress.

Expert NFL Preseason Analysis and Prediction

The Titans are one of my picks to surprise in the AFC this year, but they haven’t looked very good this NFL preseason. With this game coming down to the backups on both teams, I’m going to encourage you to back Kansas City behind their strong-armed prized rookie Pat Mahomes. Tennessee is just 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 road games while the Chiefs have gone 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Titans are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Kansas City, but I like that ATS trend to come to an abrupt halt in this affair. NFL Preseason Pick: Kansas City 31 Tennessee 21
