NFL Betting Preview for Los Angeles Rams vs Los Angeles Chargers On Aug. 14th

Rams vs Chargers – NFL Preseason Game

Why bet on Rams versus Chargers

There’s a good chance 24-year-old Bryce Perkins leads the Rams onto the field. No way the Rams play Matthew Stafford in this while John Wolford, Stafford’s backup, is listed as questionable. If it is Perkins, the Rams will have a shot. The former University of Virginia quarterback has skills. Also, no doubt, Perkins will be motivated to show what he can do.

Why bet on Chargers against Rams

The Chargers will go with either 2019 fifth-round pick Easton Stick or former Stanford QB KJ Costello under center. Both have enough talent to beat the Los Angeles Rams second-string defense. Costello, especially, has a lot riding on his preseason performance. If Costello can prove he’s deserving of the third-string nod, he can slowly make his way into a backup role behind starter Justin Herbert.

Final Betting Analysis: Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are the pick. Why? The Rams’ first-team defense is one of the best in the NFL. But Los Angeles doesn’t have a ton of depth on the D, which means if Sean McVay keeps Jalen Ramsey, Aaron Donald, and the other defensive stars on the bench, Stick or Costello should have some success.

It will be interesting to see if LAC starts and plays Costello. The rookie wasn’t great his senior year at Mississippi State, but as a junior at Stanford, he completed over 65% of his passes, threw for 3,540 yards and tossed 29 touchdowns.

He’s got some talent and has a high football IQ. So if Costello gets the start, pay attention to see how he performs. He could be a great trading chip.

Even Costello doesn’t get the start, the Chargers will win and cover. The Los Angeles Rams are good enough to win the Super Bowl, which means Sean McVay will use this game to prepare his bench. He won’t even think of putting a starter into harm’s way.
