Written by on August 9, 2017

Okay NFL betting buffs, with Week 1 of the 2017 NFL preseason period quickly approaching you need to know who’s playing whom, where they’re staging their opening battles and what the odds are for each scrimmage opener. To that end, I’ve got a complete betting guide highlighting each Week 1 pairing, along with the TV schedule and NFL betting odds for each matchup. Since haste makes waste, let’s get started.

Here’s a Closer Look at NFL Preseason Week 1: Betting Guide, TV Schedule & Odds

Houston Texans at Carolina Panthers

When: Wednesday, August 9 at 7:30 PM ET Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: Carolina -1 / Total: 36 Analysis: For this game, expect a thriller in this week 1 matchup as Houston looks to take the next step toward becoming elite and Carolina looks to get back to being elite after missing the playoffs a year ago. It’s an interesting starter for the preseason!

Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins

When: Thursday, August 10 at 7:00 PM ET Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida NFL Preseason Odds: Pick ‘Em / Total: 36.5 Analysis: The high-scoring Falcons and clearly, dysfunctional Dolphins who foolishly signed Jay Cutler battle in South Beach. I don’t think much will happen with Miami this season in general. But who knows. We might get a surprise in this matchup.

Minnesota Vikings at Buffalo Bills

When: Thursday, August 10 at 7:00 PM ET Where: Ralph Wilson Stadium, New York NFL Preseason Odds: Minnesota -1.5 / Total: 37 Analysis: It’s Minnesota’s powerful defense against Shady McCoy and the rebooted Bills. I don’t see much of a reboot yet with Buffalo, especially not having Cardale Jones as part of that reboot.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots

When: Thursday, August 10 at 7:30 PM ET Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts NFL Preseason Odds: New England -3.5 / Total: 40.5 Analysis: Does Tom Brady even need to suit up for this Week 1 mismatch? I think not! This is probably going to be a walk in the park for New England.

Washington Redskins at Baltimore Ravens

When: Thursday, August 10 at 7:30 PM ET Where: M&T Bank Stadium NFL Preseason Odds: Baltimore -1 / Total: 37 Analysis: It’s Washington’s offense vs. Baltimore’s defense in the Beltway Battle. Now that Joe Flacco is out for a few weeks, the Ravens could have a hard time against the Redskins.

Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears

When: Thursday, August 10 at 8:00 PM ET Where: Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: Denver -1.5 / Total: 35.5 Analysis: Denver’s defense takes on a Chicago Bears team still mired in dysfunction – even without Jay Cutler. It will be an easy one for the Broncos as they head to Chicago.

New Orleans Saints at Cleveland Browns

When: Thursday, August 10 at 8:00 PM ET Where: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio NFL Preseason Odds: Cleveland -3 / Total: 38 Analysis: Don’t expect to see Drew Brees or Adrian Peterson very long in this one! But maybe we’ll see a different Cleveland team, maybe we’ll get to see Brock Osweiler. But I don’t think much can happen with this matchup.

Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers

When: Thursday, August 10 at 8:00 PM ET Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin NFL Preseason Odds: Green Bay -1 / Total: 38.5 Analysis: This Week 1 preseason matchup could be the best pairing of them all. It’s one of the classic NFC matchups. I especially hope to see an improved Philadelphia team.

Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Giants

When: Friday, August 11 at 7:00 PM ET Where: MetLife Stadium TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: NY Giants -3.5 / Total: 37.5 Analysis: Eli and Big Ben won’t play much, but you should expect an entertaining affair between these 2016 playoff participants nevertheless. It’s always fun to see these two classic teams battle.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Cincinnati Bengals

When: Friday, August 11 at 7:30 PM ET Where: Paul Brown Stadium NFL Preseason Odds: Cincinnati -2 / Total: 37 Analysis: I’m thinking this Week 1 matchup could be super entertaining! Why? I really don’t know, but for some reason, this could even be the match of week!

San Francisco 49ers at Kansas City Chiefs

When: Friday, August 11 at 9:00 PM ET Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: Kansas City -4 / Total: 37.5 Analysis: Super Bowl-hopeful Kansas City hosts rebuilding Frisco and their trio of mediocre signal-callers. Don’t expect much from the 49ers on Friday. Super Bowl-hopeful Kansas City hosts rebuilding Frisco and their trio of mediocre signal-callers for this NFL Preseason Week 1.

Tennessee Titans at New York Jets

When: Saturday, August 12 at 7:30 PM ET Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey NFL Preseason Odds: Tennessee -2.5 / Total: 37 Analysis: Will the Jets embarrass themselves in their preseason opener? Highly likely they will. But then again, could there be a surprise lurking around?

Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams

When: Saturday, August 12 at 9:00 PM ET Where: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: Dallas -2.5 / Total: 37.5 Analysis: The revamped Rams and the youngest head coach in league history host a Cowboys team intent on making a deep playoff run in 2017.

Oakland Raiders at Arizona Cardinals

When: Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 PM ET Where: University of Phoenix Stadium NFL Preseason Odds: Arizona -3 / Total: 39.5 Analysis: Maybe it’s me, but I wish this were an important regular season meeting! It’s a great game between two rising teams. The Cardinals are favorites, but it would be nice to see how much the Raiders have improved.

Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts

When: Sunday, August 13 at 1:30 PM ET Where: Lucas Oil Stadium TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: Pick ‘Em / Total: 37.5 Analysis: I’m pretty sure this will be the last season in Detroit for Jim Caldwell and the final campaign in Indy for Chuck Pagano. That could change depending on the season result, but this is a good start.

Seattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Chargers

When: Sunday, August 13 at 8:00 PM ET Where: StubHub Center, Carson, California TV: NFLN NFL Preseason Odds: L.A. Chargers -1.5 / Total: 37.5 Analysis: This Week 1 matchup could be very interesting as Trevone Boykin and Cardale Jones show off their skills for Seattle and Los Angeles respectively.
