Writer’s NFL Quarterback Picks for the Week 15 Matchups
Miami – Tua Tagovailoa at Houston – C.J. Stroud
Sunday, December 15th, 2024
Stroud can light up the scoreboard but although he’s at home, C.J. and the Texans are up against it versus a strong Miami defense.
Also, Houston may try and lean on the run game to keep the ball out of Tua’s hands.
Tagovailoa can break apart any defense.
He’s got the targets and a solid rushing attack behind Devon Achane and Raheem Mostert.
The Fins’ QB wins the battle.
NFL Week 15 QB Pick: Tua Tagovailoa
Buffalo – Josh Allen at Detroit – Jared Goff
Sunday, December 15th, 2024
Goff could post better passing stats than Josh Allen in this.
But Jared doesn’t have the wheels that Allen possesses.
So even of Goff wins the quarterback matchup through the air, Allen can make up for the stats difference with his legs.
Give Allen the nod.
NFL Week 15 QB Pick: Josh Allen
Pittsburgh – Russell Wilson at Philadelphia – Jalen Hurts
Sunday, December 15th, 2024
Russell Wilson showed in Pittsburgh’s shootout victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in NFL Week 13 that he can light up a stats sheet.
Wilson has plenty left in the tank.
Taking it to the Bengals’ D and beating Philly’s D are two separate things.
Philadelphia boasts one of the league’s best defenses.
It has the ability to shut down almost any offense.
Hurts wins through the air and on the ground.
NFL Week 15 QB Pick: Jalen Hurts
Tampa Bay – Baker Mayfield at LAC – Justin Herbert
Sunday, December 15th, 2024
Herbert versus Mayfield should be a great matchup.
Justin has been playing terrific ball but he faces a tall task beating Baker.
Mayfield is having his best season as a pro.
He’s doing everything required to lead his team to victory.
The Chargers play a more vanilla offensive system than the Buccaneers.
Expect Mayfield to post the better stats.
NFL Week 15 QB Pick: Baker Mayfield
Green Bay – Jordan Love at Seattle – Geno Smith
Sunday, December 15th, 2024
Love versus Smith is going to be a closer QB battle than many might believe.
Jordan Love has the goods to win the battle but Geno has a huge advantage.
Smith is at home where DK Metcalf, Jackson Smith-Njigba, and Tyler Lockett flourish.
Geno can also get it done with his legs.
Smith wins.
NFL Week 15 QB Pick: Geno Smith
Chicago – Caleb Williams at Minnesota – Sam Darnold
Monday, December 16th, 2024
Darnold hasn’t posted fantastic stats in recent games.
However, he’s doing enough to lead Minnesota to wins.
Chicago isn’t winning games but it’s not Williams’s fault.
Caleb is doing everything he can to put the Bears into position to win.
Beating a Brian Flores’ defense won’t be easy but Caleb has made huge strides the past month and a half.
Give Caleb the nod.
NFL Week 15 QB Pick: Caleb Williams

QBs Power Rankings Expert Analysis for Week 15
Previous Betting News
Following a wild and wacky Week 14 of football action, it’s time to take a look at this week’s NFL quarterback power rankings. Just know, that for at least a week, what was up is now down and vice versa. With Week 15 quickly approaching and teams in both conferences looking to improve their playoff hopes, let’s find out which signal-callers make this week’s top 10 in the quarterback power rankings so you can keep placing your bets against their NFL odds.
QBs Power Rankings Heading Into Week 15 | NFL Betting
No. 1 Patrick Mahomes
Mahomes threw three interceptions against Miami but still managed to pass for 393 yards and two scores while coming alive in the second half against the young Fins. Right now, Mahomes is the best in the business – and it’s not as close it you might think. The 2018 league MVP ranks first in passing yards (4,208), third in TD passes (33) and second in quarterback rating (84.7).
No. 2 Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers had a ho-hum 295-yards, three touchdown passing day while leading Green Bay to a hard-fought 31-24 win over division rival Detroit on Sunday. The future Hall of Famer has thrown 10 TD passes and no picks the last three weeks while throwing at least three TD passes in four consecutive games.
No. 3 Baker Mayfield
One week after torching Tennessee for 334 yards and four TD passes, Baker Mayfield showed up in a big way in Monday night’s huge divisional clash against Baltimore. While the Browns suffered a crushing 47-42 home loss, Mayfield was outstanding by passing for 343 yards with two TD tosses and one interception.
No. 4 Josh Allen
Buffalo’s franchise quarterback passed for 238 yards with two touchdowns and one interception against Pittsburgh’s league-leading defense while guiding Buffalo to an emphatic 26-15 smackdown win. Allen’s performance showed the stunning growth we’ve seen in the strong-armed signal-caller over the last year. Allen ranks sixth in passing yards (3,641), tied for sixth in TD passes (28) and sixth in quarterback rating (76.0).
No. 5 Jalen Hurts
No, I’m not ready to anoint Philadelphia’s rookie quarterback the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I’m also not prepared to dismiss Jalen Hurts performance against a stingy New Orleans defense as nothing either. In his first career start in the NFL, Hurts passed for 309 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while adding 106 rushing yards on 18 carries. More importantly, Hurts’ insertion into the starting lineup lifted everyone’s play and helped the Birds pull off one of the biggest upsets of the season.
No. 6 Drew Lock
Denver’s strong-armed but injured young quarterback was outstanding in lighting up Carolina for 280 yards with four touchdowns – and no interceptions. Lock has 13 TD passes and 13 interceptions this season and may not be the long-term answer to Denver’s long-standing quarterback woes, but for at least a week, Lock is a top 5 quarterback!
No. 7 Mitch Trubisky
While I, along with everyone else, have repeatedly ripped for Chicago for bypassing both, Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson in the 2017 NFL draft, the Bears, oft-maligned Mitch Trubisky gets a top 10 spot in this week’s quarterback power rankings after torching Houston for 267 yards with three TD passes and no interceptions. Strange sighting? I know right?
No. 8 Russell Wilson
While Russell Wilson had a modest 206-yard passing day in Seattle’s 40-3 smackdown win over the winless Jets, the future Hall of Famer did throw four TD passes and only one interception. Still, it’s the Jets we’re talking about, so it’s not all that impressive. Still, for the season, Wilson ranks third in passing yards (3,685), second in TD passes (36) and 10th in quarterback rating (71.6).
No. 9 Kyler Murray
Murray passed for a modest 244 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions while Arizona ran the ball more with Kenyan Drake taking a leading role in the offense on Sunday. Still, Murray added 47 rushing yards – and his ability to extend plays with his feet is nearly unmatched. Murray ranks 12th in TD passes (23) and an identical 12th in quarterback rating (71.0).
No. 10 Justin Herbert
The Chargers‘ super-gifted rookie signal-caller passed for 243 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while leading the Bolts to a thrilling 20-17 home win over Atlanta on Sunday. For the season, the former Oregon star is ranked 11th in passing yards (3,467(, tied for ninth in touchdown passes (25) and 16th in quarterback rating (66.6). Now, if only he had a competent head coach.
Down, But Not Out!
Deshaun Watson
It’s a complete and utter shame that the clearly gifted Watson doesn’t have any help – or competent front office leadership – whatsoever in Houston.
Kirk Cousins
Cousins was limited to 225 passing yards and only one TD pass in Minnesota’s huge Week 14 loss against Tampa Bay.
Ben Roethlisberger
Pittsburgh’s longtime franchise superstar was held to just 187 passing yards while tossing two costly interceptions in the Steelers’ humbling loss against Buffalo on Sunday.
Down – and Out!
Carson Wentz
I’m sorry, but after watching Jalen Hurts in his NFL debut this past weekend, I think it’s time for Philadelphia to move on from its former franchise signal-caller. Wentz has regressed in a big way and looks like a shell-shocked rookie more often than not these days. While I still believe Wentz can be a starter for some franchise, I don’t think that team is Philadelphia any more. I’m suggesting a reunion with former offensive coordinator Frank Reich in Indianapolis, but that’s just me!
