“I really believe that I can go back and make an impact with the group of running backs that we’ve already got here.” @ChrisThompson_4 returned to practice this week and could be the spark the Redskins need this Monday.

Series History
Including postseason play, the Redskins are 86-75-5 all-time against the Eagles, including season series sweep in two of the last three years. The Redskins’ 86 all-time wins against the Eagles are their most against any opponent. The Redskins are 42-39-2 all-time against the Eagles in Philadelphia, including a victory in the NFC Wild Card Round on Jan. 5, 1991. The Redskins’ 42 road wins against the Eagles are their most against any opponent. The Redskins have won two of their last three road games in Philadelphia.
Why Bet on Washington?
The Skins are off a 31-23 loss in Dallas on Thanksgiving, their first game since losing starting QB Alex Smith to a horrible broken leg. Colt McCoy completed 24-of-38 passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. McCoy found tight ends Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis for 148 combined yards while also keying a season-best day for Josh Doctson, but he made too many mistakes for the Redskins to pull off the road upset.McCoy was thrust into the starting role Nov. 18, when Smith broke his leg, and the Redskins had only walk-through practices leading up to the matchup at Dallas four days later. This week, McCoy will get five days of work preparing for the game at Philadelphia. The Redskins have a struggling run game and a defense that hasn’t stopped the run effectively in recent weeks. Even though they remain tied with the Cowboys for the division lead at 6-5, a boost from McCoy has become a must in order to stay in playoff contention.
Adrian Peterson rushed 12 times for 35 yards in the Redskins’ Week 12 loss, adding two catches for nine additional yards. Peterson has now been held below 70 yards rushing in four-straight games and is averaging just 3.05 yards per carry in the process.
The Redskins will attempt to snap a four-game losing streak in Monday Night Football games against the Eagles. A win would be the Redskins’ first against Philadelphia on Monday Night Football since earning a 20-12 win on Sept. 17, 2007.
The Redskins will be seeking their 11th all-time victory against defending Super Bowl champions. The Redskins’ most recent victory against defending Super Bowl champions was a 17-16 victory against the New York Giants on Dec. 3, 2012.
The Redskins are 20-20 all-time against defending NFC champions since the formation of conferences following the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. A win would be Washington’s first against a team that represented the NFC in the most recent Super Bowl since defeating the New York Giants in 2012.
Why Bet on Philadelphia?
The disappointing Eagles (5-6) came back to win 25-22 over the Giants last week. Zach Ertz had seven catches for 91 yards and a touchdown and has 84 catches this season, the most by a tight end in franchise history, surpassing the previous record of 81 set by Keith Jackson in 1988.Carson Wentz completed 20-of-28 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown. Wentz connected with Ertz for a 15-yard touchdown in the second quarter to start the comeback from 19-3 down. Wentz has completed 230-of-330 passes for 2,540 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions in nine games this season.
Josh Adams rushed 22 times for 84 yards and one touchdown. Adams had a 52-yard touchdown run called back on the opening series due to a Jason Kelce holding penalty. It was a big jump in touches (the most carries he received in a game before Sunday was nine), but not a totally unexpected one. Adams had averaged about 7 yards per carry over his three previous outings. Eagles coach Doug Pederson wants to get Adams more work each week. He was an afterthought until recently.
On defense, the Eagles boast an impressive front seven, with defensive ends Michael Bennett and Chris Long wreaking havoc in the backfield. Bennett has 6.5 sacks for 53.5 yards, as well as a team-high 21 QB hits, and eight tackles for loss. Long has tallied 4.5 sacks for 29.5 yards, plus 13 QBH’s and 2 TFL’s. Linebackers Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham have led the way in tackles, with Hicks boasting a combined 85 tackles (58 solo) and three sacks. Bradham has 63 tackles (45 solo), plus two sacks.
Philly is really thin in the secondary, though. Four of the Eagles’ top five corners did not dress last week. The only one who did, Rasul Douglas, did not practice all week and was used sparingly. The three primary corners for the Giants game — Cre’von LeBlanc, De’Vante Bausby, and undrafted rookie Chandon Sullivan — weren’t on the Eagles’ active roster as of a month ago. Only LeBlanc had started an NFL game before Sunday.
