Written by on August 30, 2017

This offseason, the Seattle Seahawks traded running back Marshawn Lynch – after he announced he wanted to come out of retirement – to his hometown Oakland Raiders. Lynch gets to face his former team in the NFL preseason finale on Thursday night … if he plays, that is. Week 3 Preseason Results

Seattle (3-0) is one of just a few teams without a preseason loss. It beat visiting Kansas City 26-13 last Friday. Russell Wilson completed 13-of- 19 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. He hit Jimmy Graham for a 30-yard gain with a bullet down the seam at the end of the first half, and he put a perfectly placed ball over Doug Baldwin’s shoulder after the break. Eddie Lacy rushed four times for 21 yards in the Seahawks' third preseason game. Lacy got the start with Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise sidelined, and he came out strong with an 11-yard run on his first play. Chris Carson rushed eight times for 46 yards and caught two passes for 44 yards in the Seahawks’ third preseason game. Carson has clearly earned a roster spot with 156 yards on 25 touches this preseason, but he looks like the No. 4 back when everyone is healthy. Oakland is one of just a few teams without a preseason win at 0-3 – just one team in NFL history has won the Super Bowl after going winless in the preseason. The Raiders lost 24-20 in Dallas last week. Left tackle Donald Penn played 17 snaps over two series just three days after ending his camp-long contract holdout. The first series covered 10 plays and 81 yards, capped by Cordarrelle Patterson’s 17-yard pass from Derek Carr, who also had a 48-yard scoring toss to Amari Cooper. Carr was 13 of 17 for 144 yards before EJ Manuel replaced him late in the second quarter.

How to Bet on Pittsburgh at Carolina NFL Preseason Week 4 Odds

Seahawks Injuries

The Seahawks will be missing five players this week as they prepare for their final preseason game, but all are expected to be ready for Seattle’s regular season opener in Green Bay. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that receiver Tyler Lockett, guard Luke Joeckel, linebacker Michael Wilhoite and defensive ends Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril were all away from the team to receive the same Regenokine procedure that linebackers K.J. Wright and D.J. Alexander went through earlier this month. Prosise (groin) returned to practice Monday, while Rawls (ankle) returned Tuesday. What that means for Thursday’s game remains to be seen, Carroll said. DE Frank Clark injured his wrist and is visiting a specialist. Clark was second on the team last season with 10 sacks and is expected to be a part of the team’s nickel pass rush in 2017 along with Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril.

Raiders’ First-Rounder Back

Oakland has activated CB Gareon Conley (shin) from the active/PUP list and immediately returned to practice. Conley hadn’t practiced since minicamp. His conditioning could be an issue for Week 1, but he now has 12 days to get up to speed. It’s possible Conley plays this week. Are the Raiders a safe bet against the Seahawks in this NFL Preseason game? Conley was projected by many observers to be a top-10 pick but fell to the Raiders at No. 24 overall after a rape accusation the week of the draft. He did not sign with Oakland until reporting day while a grand jury declined to pursue charges against him on July 31. The Raiders have had issues in the secondary in the preseason, with high-priced veteran cornerback Sean Smith losing his spot to TJ Carrie and facing assault and battery charges. Also, left cornerback David Amerson in the concussion protocol.

Team Series History

The game will mark the 12th straight season that the Raiders have finished up their preseason schedule against the Seahawks, with four of those 12 games coming in Oakland, including three of the last four. Seattle is the third NFC West team that the Raiders have faced this preseason. The two teams are next scheduled to face each other in the regular season in 2018. Seattle leads 11-4 in the preseason overall.
