Seattle At New Orleans NFL Winning Predictions

Written by on October 27, 2016

One of the more intriguing types of match-ups that we often get in the NFL is when you have a good offensive team going against a tough defensive team. What you get is a battle of wills between a pair of units that believe they can be better than the other. I don’t know what the exact record is in these types of games, but it does seem that the defensive side comes out on top on a more regular basis. That would appear to have things fall in favor of the defensively-minded Seattle Seahawks, as they head to New Orleans this weekend as a 2.5-point favorite to face a Saints team that usually lives or dies on the arm of Drew Brees. The fact that the seemingly more talented Seahawks have a pretty small spread to top tell you just how unsure the bookies are about how these types of match-ups go. This is certainly going to be one of the more intriguing games on the NFL Week 8 schedule this coming Sunday afternoon.

Why bet on the Seattle Seahawks

There is no denying that the Seahawks have one of the best defenses in recent memory, but there are some questions being asked of their offense this year. They have not looked very good at all, and are coming off a brutal performance in Week 7 versus the Arizona Cardinals. The only things that saved this team from total humiliation was the play of the defense, and the total ineffectiveness of the Cardinals offense. A 6-6 finishing score tell you all you need to know about that game. If the Seattle Seahawks are to get the win this week, they are going to have to put some more points on the board, as they are facing a Saints team that, while struggling a little this year, can score quickly, especially if Brees is on his game.

Why bet on the New Orleans Saints

You hate to have to talk about a must win game at the halfway point of the season, but that is exactly what this is for the Saints. The Panthers season looks to be dead, and the Falcons and Buccaneers are holding a slim lead at the top of the NFC South. A win here for the Saints keeps them in the division race, but a loss almost certainly does them in. The biggest problem for New Orleans this year has been a similar story of being unable to slow down the opposition. The Seahawks don’t have what anyone would call a high-powered offense, and that leads you to believe that the Saints may just be able to hang around in a low-scoring game.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

There are a lot of pundits who have this one listed as their upset pick of the week, but I just don’t see it happening. The Seahawks are 7-2-1 SU in their last 10 road games, and they have overcome teams a whole lot better than this Saints team looks right now.
